Ten years ago, Austin Murray froze, costing Izzy Tremblay her best friend's life. Now, Austin may be Izzy's only hope of living and finding her father's killer.
The killer knows Izzy is working unofficially to find the truth, and he has access to systems he shouldn't be able to touch. Now, he's using technology to help him track her. Worse he knows things about her that he shouldn't.
When an attack wipes three hours of memories from her brain, Izzy is left vulnerable. Could she have seen or done something that could bring a resolution to this case? Only time will tell if her perfect memory can be restored. If Austin can keep her safe.
Determined to keep Izzy safe, Austin offers his ranch as a hideaway. What could be safer? Hidden away on a ranch with an ex-partner she hasn't had contact with for a decade and a barn full of K-9s in training. There is just one little problem - keeping their hearts safe. But this is Love Inspired Suspense so I'll let you draw your own conclusions in the heart department.
Altogether, this is a good read. It doesn't contain any graphic material, which is how I like my books. So, if you love suspense that doesn't give you nightmares and romance that doesn't leave you feeling icky, give K-9 Ranch Protection a chance.

Ten years ago, Kate Spencer made the biggest mistake of her young life, and she's been paying for it ever since. But she's been given a chance to seek the forgiveness she so desperately needs. Now, she just needs Rand Walkins to listen to her.
Rand can't believe that the woman who ruined his life has been hired to help out at the wrangler youth camp he's called home for the last few years. To his way of thinking she got what she deserved and he's not ready to talk to her or forgive her. But as he observes her, she's not quite what he expected.
But when the annual overnight trail ride goes wrong, Rand is going to have to put his mistrust aside if he, Kate, and two young teens hope to survive.
Mountain Storm Survival is intense page-turning suspense. With nature and killers threatening them, Rand and Kate will have to work together if they hope to not only survive but to stop the killers. This is a book of second chances and forgiveness. But will their chance at something more come? Or will today be all they are given?
This book, being a Love Inspired Suspense offering, promises a happy-ending, clean-reading suspense, and G-rated romance - a perfect blend! This book is part of the author's Mountain Rescue series but is totally a standalone series. Highly recommended for anyone looking for their next good read.

Friend and Faux The Otaku Fairytales #1 By Erudessa Gentian
I think this is by far the most unique of the Lost Kerchiefs challenge stories. First, it is Friend and Faux The Otaku Fairytales #1 By Erudessa Gentian
I think this is by far the most unique of the Lost Kerchiefs challenge stories. First, it is set in today's world. And I'll be honest: I have never read anything written in the AnimeLit style, so I can't compare it to others in the same style.
All that being said, I did enjoy reading this book. It is easily read in a few hours and takes the reader into the life of a freshman college student. Asuka Gosse is attending because her grades have made her a highly desired student. She may not have the wealth or social status of the rest of the students, but she will work her hardest to prove her worth.
Of course, a new student who doesn't understand the current social hierarchy is pulled in by the machinations of an oh-so-helpful student willing to show her the ropes and help her navigate this new world. Yep, you can totally see where this is going.
I loved the ending. I'm not saying anything more because that will totally ruin it for you. Let's just say it was priceless and oh-so-perfect. I'm interested in what comes next in this new series and would highly recommend it to younger readers without hesitation.

Felicity loves her routines. She needs them, but everything changes when she is sent to a foreign kingdom to wed thind Charmer By Meredith Leigh Burton
Felicity loves her routines. She needs them, but everything changes when she is sent to a foreign kingdom to wed the prince. What's worse, the person tasked with helping her navigate these changes uses Felicity's need for routine against her.
I like Felicity. As someone who constantly arranges things (like dishes) to find a pattern where none exists, I can empathize with her even greater need for order. That said, I do not like her companion Melinda. Nope, not a bit.
Felicity's differences, while being her greatest vulnerability, also gave her a strength many underestimated. She had to deal daily with outside factors that could, in minutes, upend her world. Through practice and calming techniques, she overcame and came into her own.
I love Felicity's connection to animals and how her interaction with them plays into the story. Throughout, one can find nods to the original story: a golden cup, a talking horse, a devious servant, and an arranged marriage to a foreign prince. This is a story that is as beautifully written as the cover and one not to be missed.

This is a short story based on The Goose Girl. But there is a twist. The Princess has her handmaid bound by blood to do her will. There is one wee problem, the princess is bound by blood to the queen.
And what an evil queen she is. She plans to use her daughter to cause an international incident and hopefully bring down a kingdom. Yes, that kind of evil. The kind you want to run and hide from. Except for the whole "bound to do her-will" thing going on, which prevents running and hiding.
Though short, this is an intriguing and ingenious retelling that satisfies the key elements of the story but presents them in an original story.

She has no idea who she is or why someone is trying to kill her. All she knows is that she has to keep the two young chiCanyon Survival By Connie Queen
She has no idea who she is or why someone is trying to kill her. All she knows is that she has to keep the two young children in her care safe at all costs. But can she trust the stranger who comes to their aid?
Riggs Brenner has turned away from everything outside his canyon home. The past with its regrets are his constant companions. He let down the two most important people in his life when they most needed him and he's not about to make the same mistake twice. The young woman whose life depends on just how well he can defend her and her two young charges has put his former FBI senses on alert - is she truly a victim of amnesia? Or is it all an elaborate hoax? Only time will tell and Riggs isn't about to let the answers to his questions go unanswered.
Canyon Survival opens on a cliff, literally. We, as readers, are left wonder just how did our Jane Doe and two young children end up where they were. And like our heroine we have questions as to her identity and why someone seems intent on ending her life. Slowly answers are revealed but in the process more questions surface.
The action and suspense are steady throughout with a slow upbuild towards the end that will have you moving closer to the edge of your seat, unless like me, you are laden down with Dachshunds. This is a book you won't want to put down as you seek to understand just what happened and why it was such BIG deal.
I have not read Connie Queen before and found her writing to be engaging, the characters have a depth to them, and the background settings provide enough to allow your mind's eye to take it all in. I highly recommend this as a good get-to-know-the-author book. I personally look forward to reading previous and future books from her.

Victoria Kauffman has spent the last year running for her life. Since her partner and unit were killed on an operation gone horribly wrong she's been trying to stay one step ahead of rogue CIA operatives whom she believes are behind everything. She just needs to find the proof-there is just one problem she has no idea what she is looking for. And worse is the guilt over the life she has led as a CIA agent, the things she has done eat at her, stealing any hope for peace.
Aaron Shelter has been living with his guilt over his wife's death, no matter what anyone thinks he knows it is his fault she didn't seek the help she needed sooner. When he finds a woman in need of his help he isn't about to repeat the mistakes of the past. But this time offering help could get him and those he loves killed.
As Victoria, Aaron, and his family spend Christmas trying to elude ruthless killers, Victoria's only hope lies with contacting her former commander. But when you are in the heart of Amish country communication is not easily accomplished.
If you are a fan of Amish suspense that is a clean read you will enjoy this offering from the Love Inspired Suspense brand. At times Victoria and Aaron's dwelling on their guilt can be a little much but overall this was a good read. All the action takes place in approximately a day so there is a lot crammed into this time period but that is to be expected with these books. I will admit I had a few suspicions as to who was the guilty party so don't be surprised if you aren't surprised at the reveal of the mastermind.

Katy Wells does as little to draw attention to herself as possible, but with the threat of a strike looming she needs to take a stand for her patients. Most wouldn't think of speaking up for cows but Katy treats them when they have health issues arise and with the low price of milk hurting the local farmers she knows she must speak up. But her concerns are brushed aside, after all, she is but a woman and most likely highly excitable, especially where political and financial concerns are being discussed. Welcome to 1933 Wisconsin, whose problems surprisingly are similar to those facing dairy farmers in 2021.
Katy has come to Eagle, Wisconsin, to hide from her uncle, a man who sought to lock her away for life. When she receives word that her uncle has managed to track her from Ireland to her current home - she has a choice before her, flee as she has done in past or stand firm in the face of open hostility? She's never placed her trust in many men but to survive the threats coming her way she may have to trust Joey Moore, a deputy with the police. But trust means vulnerability and that is something Katy never wants to appear.
To Stand in the Breach is a quick read that is an introduction to A Strike to the Heart which releases in April of 2022. This novella sets the stage for us allowing a glimpse into a time and place struggling for survival. Farming is a hard unrewarding life and the barely-there prices that farmers are getting for their milk is driving them from their farms, seeking better prices the only way they can - by threatening to strike. But strikes have a history of solving little while costing much. It was interesting to get a glimpse into a world that has the same issues facing it today. I'm interested to see how everything plays out in A Strike to the Heart.

Could her night get any worse? After receiving news that has shattered her world Hannah Morgan finds herself caught up in a case unlike any she has ever before had to deal with. Working the Canadian border as a patrol officer has its moments but never before have the stakes been so high. Not only is Hannah's life in danger so is the young boy she found out in the cold.
Gabe escaped from his captors hoping to bring help to the rest of the boys held with him. Victims of child traffickers and forced into hard labor escape was their only hope. But those who took Gabe want him back and they are more than willing to sacrifice anyone or anything that gets in their way. And Hannah is most definitely in their way.
When a call for help bring Canadian Police Constable Layke Jackson to the scene of an attack he jumps into action. He's been tracking these traffickers and the case has just become very personal for him. Keeping Hannah and Gabe safe is imperative to his case and to rescuing nephew.

This a jump-into-the-action book that will hold the reader's attention from cover to cover. I've never before read the author's work so I went in with no expectations and thoroughly enjoy the reading experience. But sometimes the heart has other plans and trust is all they have left - they just need to put it in the right person - God.
Do you love page-turning excitement, a touch of romance, and no graphic anything in your books? Well, you have found that and more in Abducted in Alaska. So sit back and enjoy some Love Inspired Suspense.

Ten years ago Katie Bontrager fled her Amish community, leaving behind the one man she'd ever loved. But when a young woman goes missing Katie is forced to face her past and all its memories while going undercover. What she hadn't expected was that Abram Burkholder would be her liaison to the Amish community she once called home.
When Abram learns that his Katie is now an Englisch police officer he couldn't be more shocked. When she disappeared ten years ago without a word, he never thought he'd see her again. Nor did he expect his heart to be as strongly drawn to her as it had been before she broke it. When he learns about the danger that has come to his family and neighbors he is justifiably concerned, especially when Katie and her partner are attacked.
As the danger draws closer, time is running out to find Beth and figure out who wants them dead. But an even greater danger to their lives is the danger to their hearts.
Covert Amish Investigation is the eleventh book in the Amish Country Justice series but this book can be read as a standalone title. The characters are believable in their interactions and their responses to the past. The pacing is good with enough suspense to keep you reading but not so much that it will disrupt your sleep when you lay it down for the night. Being a Love Inspired Suspense publication you know to expect an up ending but the journey to it is fraught with danger and unexpected turns.

It's sad but true (thank you, Disney's Little Mermaid), but this series has come to an end. I've loved the Faraway Castle series from the very beginning, and each book is better than the last. This isn't to say that the story is necessarily, but rather that the story world that the author has created has grown.
I love how aspects of Beauty and the Beast are woven throughout this book. In this book, we finally get a chance to meet the Gamekeeper of Faraway Castle and get some backstory about the castle and some of the characters.
And we met Beatrice de Callen who has a unique tie to the castle one that may determine the fate of the world. Beatrice first comes to Faraway Castle as a young girl who, through a trick of fate, chance, or design, meets a young boy. She forms an almost instantaneous friendship with this young man whom she never sees again. As she grows, she forms a friendship with the Gamekeeper and has a series of dreams in which she forms another attachment. I know it makes one think of Sleeping Beauty's I Know You.
Then there is the Gamekeeper who is mysterious and always hidden in some way. You guessed it he about to have his story brought to life. And what a story it is. Just saying anyone who has read the rest of the books in this series does not want to miss this one!
When Beatrice is called upon to help protect two rare griffin eggs, she answers the call. Little does she realize just what she has gotten herself into - a war that could destroy everything she knows and everyone she loves. These rare griflets are very important to everything, but so is Beatrice and the choice her heart must make.
Did I say I love how everything comes together in this book? And yes, you need to read the other books, in order, before reading The Beauty and the Griffin.

But when the crime she reports can't be verified he is the only hope she has of staying alive long enough to find the proof she needs. Finding the proof Christine needs while staying ahead of a killer is about to take all of Blake's skills and the support of the Texas Rangers.
Texas Witness Threat is a well-paced read that takes the reader into the heart of the Lone Star State. This book is part of the Love Inspired Suspense collection and it is a clean Romantic Suspense read that won't leave the reader blushing or squirming uncomfortably. The action, at times, can get a little intense but nothing to keep the reader up all night unless it is to keep reading because you just don't want to put the book down. If you want to escape to Texas while enjoying all the comforts of home this is the way to do so. So find your favorite corner and curl up with a cup of tea and get ready to spend a few hours away from your everyday.

Olivia Brannon lives in the world of antiques. Her father stoked her interest in rare and unique pieces and promised her the chance to see the world. But since his death the family business has been in her uncle's less than capable hands.
When Olivia and the son of her father's former business partner are invited to the same house party a family/business feud is revived. Both are appraising parts of the Cloverton Estates vast holdings. But when some concerns arise Olivia and Lucas Avery must work together to determine what is going on.
The Cloverton Charade is a delightful read. Deception and intrigue abound at this Regency House Party. Oh, what a web has entrapped those who now call the Cloverton Hall home. There are twists that will keep you wondering just what is going on behind the elegant facade of genteel civility.
Sarah Ladd can weave a story that will capture and hold your attention from cover to cover. Her stories never disappoint. This book is part of The Houses of Yorkshire series, but it can easily be read as a standalone title. It is a clean read in the romance department, a must, in my opinion.

The coveted Shadowstone is finally his. But what will it cost him?
This is the second book in The Gatewa Lightshed The Gateway Trilogy #2 By Crystal Grant
The coveted Shadowstone is finally his. But what will it cost him?
This is the second book in The Gateway Trilogy and it opens with a glimpse into the past. We see again the incident that at its heart is the reason Mason Grey joined the troops of Emperor Jader. We don't see the death of Mason's brother, but rather the decision that resulted in a tragic mistake. We see it from Prince Eric's perspective and how his search for the Shadowpit had long-reaching consequences - pain and regrets.
We then move forward twelve years; Mason now wears the Shadowstone, and with its added strengths, he would make the Stewards pay for their actions. But one thing tugs against his mission of revenge and devotion to the Emperor - Seria Gayle.
Seria and Mason find themselves on the wrong side of the clash between their people. Both feel guilt about their feelings for the other and wish to bring the other over to what they feel is the right side of the conflict. This one line sums it up so well: How could something feel so wrong and right at once?
The coveted Shadowstone is finally his. But what will it cost him? This is the question Mason Grey must answer as he carries out the will of Emperor Jader, which is in contrast to his feelings for Seria Gayle. How can he reconcile his need for revenge with the love he feels? In a world caught in a destructive conflict, Mason and Seria find themselves at the heart of everything. This is a world you will want to visit more than once. Some layers and complexities slowly reveal themselves with each reading, allowing one to notice something new. Like when you finally realize something that has been out in the open forever, but it was lost in the surroundings because it was just there not flashy and showy, just present. This is similar. This series has an epic feel to it, and often, these are the stories that need to be read through with a desire to know what's next and, on the second time, a slower, more thoughtful enjoyment to savor all the flavors more fully.

This was a delightful read. Thanks to a series of misunderstandings, the two main characters find themselves engaged to perfect strangers.
Bram, Lord Rosedale, has had his presence at a house party demanded by his mother. FYI, Lady Rosedale is a tyrannical monster in the personality department. Said house party has been arranged so Lady Rosedale can have a say in who her son marries. Bram's need to marry soon has just become realized. If he hopes to inherit, he has to do so within three months. Surprise!
Harriet Thornhill, is at the house party only because she is accompanying her cousin. But when she accidentally finds herself in an innocent accident with Lord Rosedale, propriety demands that they marry. If Harriet doesn't agree to marry, her cousin and younger sisters will be tainted by her shame. Note to self: only try to awaken a sleeping person if you have witnesses to the event.
I loved the subtle nod to Sleeping Beauty in this story: the roses, the spindle, the cottage. This is a truly unique and enjoyable Regency romance. And if for no other reason than the cover, you should pick up this book. I loved Harriet's character; she could not be forced into anything until she could weigh the effects of her choices. And I absolutely loved Harriet, and it was evident that she was the person one would want in their corner. Perfect for Bram if he could get rid of the overbearing mother. Lady Rosedale makes Lady Catherine de Bergh look like a saint!

This is a split-time story centered around a now abandoned lighthouse. A lighthouse that hides secrets. Joey Harris'Between Sound and Sea By Amanda Cox
This is a split-time story centered around a now abandoned lighthouse. A lighthouse that hides secrets. Joey Harris's life is in shambles thanks to rumors that have basically put her business out of commission, but she's managed to snag a chance to restore a lighthouse that Walt ornate has purchased because of his past connections with it and its occupants in the 1940s.
I love the glimpses into the past as this story unfolds. I'll the prologue was an interesting hook that drew me in. I wanted to know who the old woman was and who the boy she was telling the story to was.
Overall this was a really good read. There was enough mystery to keep my attention and I loved how Joey was able to rise up above the mess and rebuild her life. And then Walt's grandson Finn, at first I wasn't sure if he'd be someone I'd like, he was SO different from his grandfather.
They say don't judge a book by its cover but this one is a great match. I highly recommend this book. I think it would be well suited for a bookclub.

Winter's Maiden opens with Brighid's birth, a birth about which lies a secret and results in her being one of the clanless. The clanless are not claimed by any of the clans, and Brighid feels this lack deeply. When offered a chance to change her foreseeable future, she, of course, jumps at the possibility of having a better future than the one that is before her.
This is an intriguing premise, and the story does not disappoint. I love how Brighid struggles to find her place in this world where she feels that she has no place. Her family didn't claim her, and if not for the midwife who oversaw her birth, she would have been lost.
But this is not a world at peace; war is on the horizon. And someone is stirring the unrest, manipulating those living in Nordica. Kaeden has been avoiding his past, but when he is given a chance to attend to those from the south in need of a healer, his skills give him a chance to interact with a captured soldier and an insight no one else has. But how can he use the knowledge he's gained to prevent a war that could destroy their whole world?
In this world Morgan M. Busse has created, we are given a world in turmoil, with characters who are searching for a place to call their own, their family. I am interested in seeing where the next book goes from here. I think this quote from the book is an example of Brighid's life:
"Unwanted at birth, barely surviving this life. If she disappeared into the darkness forever, would anyone even notice?"
This feels so bleak, but there are moments of truth. Such as: I will be with you, warrior of the North.
Moments like this make me want to read the next book and hope for something more.

I have to admit I loved this book. It has an intriguing link to the 1940s that is relevant to the present day. In fact, several threads link several crimes to the current situation Kenzie King and her SWAT team find themselves in. We know this because the book takes us back and forth between 1947 and now.
The reader doesn't know what the link is or why it is important. Even more concerning is why the SWAT team, specifically Kenzie, is being targeted.
In addition to the outside pressures of being a target, Kenzie is having to deal with attitudes concerning her place on the Lake City SWAT team. Rumors have a way of taking root, and Kenzie's ties have some, not just whispering but talking that her name got her in. The fact that Kenzie is pulling her weight and doing her job doesn't crush the talk.
Then there is her teammate Cole Garrison, who has mixed emotions about Kenzie. She could be the one, but he is her superior, and he takes the whole trying to keep everything professional very seriously. But when she becomes a target, his emotions and concerns for her just might make him confront his feelings.
This was another excellent read from Lynette Eason. The characters have depth, and the suspense is maintained throughout. If you are looking for a clean read, suspense. No lines are crossed as the stakes are raised. There are moments when it seems as if the perpetrator may win the day, but with a team of professionals having their backs, there is hope that they will prevail.
