I liked this. The story was interesting, and I liked the characters. There were parts that felt really repetitive. Like repetitive to the point I was I liked this. The story was interesting, and I liked the characters. There were parts that felt really repetitive. Like repetitive to the point I was feeling talked down to. I know I'm not the target audience, but I do read a fair amount of MG. The themes of friendship, confidence, and family were good. I would like to try the author's other series to see what she's all about....more

Owen, Sadie, and Siobhan have joined the Oil Watch. Unfortunately, their reputation precedes them. In some cases it's fine; in others, not so much. There are a slew of new characters introduced and new dragons as well. The Chinook is the stuff of nightmares. It's huge and deadly. The other dragons are different from the ones Owen is used to, but not any worse. As a Dragonslayer in the Oil Watch, Owen gets his own support crew (including a Bard of course). Together, the team makes it through basic training and on to their first assignment.
The book is a little slow like the first one, but just as well written. I'm a little sad to see this world go!...more
