It's nice to see them having actual relationship struggles unlike most RH stories where things are just hunky dory too quickly. Billie's self doubt is very relatable and Xander's struggle to ask for help is a good part of his character.
I'm excited to see what comes next for our group and if Alessandro will find his own true mate or if he will be welcomed in with the others. I also can't help but ache a little for Enzo but hopefully Billie learns to let him go or he finds his place. His story is so tragic.
Also (and this is a me-thing so no hate to the author here)... I never realized how much the word "flesh" bothers me... but this was a struggle at times since the author favors it quite a bit (Kindle states it's used 163 times lol). Again, totally a me-problem.
Do you need to read Black Veil University before reading this? Normally with interconnected series like this the answer is "no, but LOVED Fina's story
Do you need to read Black Veil University before reading this? Normally with interconnected series like this the answer is "no, but it's more fun if you do", however with this one I really feel like some readers may be a little lost about the dynamics of the world unless they read Black Veil University first. So personally, yes, I recommend you do.
I loved that Fina is a dark and damaged FMC. Typically when I read reverse harem books like this that type of character is reserved for one of the men to be the "broken one" but this time our FMC gets that role. Fina adds wonderful dimension to this story and I can't wait to see her continue to put her men through their paces. It's obvious she won't be a pushover and will continue to fight back when they are assholes.
Book 2 of Umbra Hunters was just as engaging as book 1 in the series. We continue to learn more about the demon brSecond book syndrome? Definitely NOT!
Book 2 of Umbra Hunters was just as engaging as book 1 in the series. We continue to learn more about the demon brothers and how corrupt the Umbra Hunters have become. We are also treated to an FMC who does not forgive and forget lies and betrayal too quickly. (Finally! A girl who doesn't roll over just because the men are hot! Make them work for it!)
While some aspects of the story were slightly predictable (view spoiler)[(Dead brother who isn't actually dead) (hide spoiler)], Meyer's story continues to be one of the more unique reads I've come across in recent memory. I'm 100% looking forward to book 3!
PS - I need more Milo/Razar/Meyer scenes STAT! ...more
