Lets be real, its the sheep that are the stars of this story, but ODC do have their moments, courtesy of the sheep. Poor Darcy finds himself jumping through hoops to make Elizabeth his wife.
Aside from the sheep there is a lovely ensemble of the usual characters to keep things going. Even when the sheep aren't making nuisances of themselves....more

A new neighbor arrives -a very young widow with twin boys- into Meryton's society, 3 years after canon. The militia had been and gone and Bingley hadn't leased Netherfield and everything is still the same. All 5 Bennet girls are still home, as none have married and Charlotte is still single too.
While Elizabeth, Jane and Charlotte have befriended the sad, young widow, Mrs. Wilson keeps to herself. Until gentlemen, new to the area move in to Netherfield. When 2 other strangers show up, it gets even more complicated.
The small shift from canon creates options for divergent paths to play out. Romance, intrigue and an overabundant burden of guilt and/or duty motivates several of the characters.
Told purely from Elizabeth's POV, we get to know the other characters through her eyes and experiences. On meeting Darcy, we have a front row seat to this more mature Elizabeth admiring, respecting and falling in love with him. Hoping, but never sure that the solemn yet captivating man feels the same.
The story starts slowly, but by the time it picked up speed I was invested and wanted to see how it would end. Nicely written, although does tend to be too wordy at times.
This is not a happy go lucky tale, or even full on angst filled drama. It is a more subtle, melancholic slow burn, till all the pieces fall into place and ODC can finally begin their life together. If you separated ODC's romance from the rest of the story you'd have a beautiful courtship which could have been a stand-alone!
I was left with some unanswered questions, like - what ultimately happens to Georgiana and Charlotte and how did Col F. get injured and what does he do with himself these days? Also, how does anyone, even Wickham, go through 30K in less than a year, that almost immediately they were living in low cost habitats and moving around so often. I realize the author wanted all 5 Bennet sisters home for the purpose of her story, but it didn't make sense that not one of them had married in all that time.

It is very sweet, ODC don't have much angst between themselves and their romance goes smoothly and quickly. Most of the drama happens separately and Wickham is (of course) the culprit. Even that is resolved by the end and neatly wrapped up. Mrs. Bennet gets is a bit of a witch to Elizabeth, but what else is new.

After a very rough beginning, Darcy does everything he can to keep Elizabeth's reputation from being ruined. Not because he doesn't want to marry her, but because he does!
As opposed to 'not tolerable' never being let to die down, leaving her to find 'better company' is the catch-phrase of this story....more

At the advice of Aunt Gardiner, Elizabeth joins Jane when they return to London. After a short while, when it appears Jane will be broken hearted, they chance upon Bingley and Darcy. Add a valentine game, pepper it with pride and a dash of vanity and misinformation and you have a Darcy scrambling to redeem himself.
It all takes place in London, with a sidebar or two to Wickham. The main stage has our 2 couples. However, Elizabeth has another fella interested in her as well.
I loved the dialog between ODC, when they decide to be friends and also between Darcy and Col F. (So Good!!) Bingley has a couple of really strong moments he gets to shine very unpuppy-like. Special mention goes to the author, for all the clever poems, rhymes and valentine's.
Highly recommend!!

Yet, I still love the idea of it.
Too many errors to mention. And the story was like it took place in fog and the lines were all blurred. Still it as P&P condensed and fast forwarded by 200%.
Darcy falls in love with Elizabeth after one long look on the streets of Meryton and dance at the Lucas's, after hearing her speak of the beauties of Pemberly.
Definitely could have been better, but for a quick afternoon read, it was just enough to leave your brain at the door.
