This doesn’t follow a traditional plot, it's essentially just long form world-building, which is something I usually dislike... but it completely worked for me because I’m captivated by its theme. That being said, I can see why others might not feel as excited about it if they don’t share the same connection. If Studio Ghibli, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Tim Burton had a baby, this book would be it. It’s cozy, whimsical, and extremely creative. I absolutely loved it....more

Such a vivid, cozy setting and amazing characters. This is the perfect mix of It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey and Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez… two of my favorite romances. The only issues I had was the plot felt a little meandering at times, with very little conflict and a vague story arc. It’s also closed door… and I wanted a little bit of spice if I’m being honest. ...more

Did I agree with everything in this book? No, but as with all non-fiction, it's good to go into it critically, taking things you find interesting and rejecting what you don't. It definitely offers up some really thought-provoking ideas that I will continue to chew on for years to come. Not only is this good for parents... but it's also great for anyone in therapy. It definitely had me looking back at my old experiences with a clearer more critical eye, and helped me understand why some therapists didn't work for me and why some did....more

I truly love this series. Still not a fan of the memory loss trope, but luckily this one wasn't too irritating, and worked pretty well for the story. I truly love this series. I'm so glad Britney was able to tell her side of the story. This book held my attention and I didn't want to stop reading it. Her life was fascinatingI'm so glad Britney was able to tell her side of the story. This book held my attention and I didn't want to stop reading it. Her life was fascinating, and what she went through was extremely sad and unfair. However, I feel like there were things missing, or even just glossed over. I still don't really understand why the conservatorship happened, how it lasted so long... or why she was put on drugs like lithium? Maybe that was the point she was trying to make though...there wasn't a reason, and the system really is just that corrupt. I'm not sure.... but I'm finding myself asking more questions than I did before reading this book. With that said though... I really hope she is able to live a free and fulfilled life, she deserves it after years of what she went through....more
