She has created a dark and mystical world filled with engaging characters….aliens, vampires, warriors and humans, all trying to live together in harmony, since the Breeds were outed years ago. This new world is expanding and introducing new characters in new settings.
Stroke of Midnight, the 13,5th in the series introduces us to Jehan, a breed warrior with the Rome division of the Order has been called back to his country to fulfill an alliance that has been handed down to the eldest son of his family with the daughter of the royal family from the joining kingdom.
He reluctantly arrives in Morocco…..wow……what a fabulous and mysterious and exotic setting….
Could I ask for more???? Prince Jehan does not believe in arranged marriages and he’s going to do everything possible to get out of it. Seraphina, the reluctant intended bride feels exactly the same.
To appease their respective parents the two form an alliance of their own…they will spend eight days together in the desert, ignore each other and return home with the news that they will not marry each other. Sounds like a good idea, right???
But then…..emotions, feelings, sexual tension, strong attraction……and their plan gets totally derailed. Jehan had been expecting a spoilt and airhead but the more he gets to know Sera, the more he likes her…never mind the sizzling heat he feels when she’s near him…..and his feelings for her grow more and more as he finds out about her commitment to her people….
And Seraphina doesn’t want to feel too much for this man. Not at all what she had thought he was….he’s loyal, a fighter, caring and the first man to ever be interested in who she is…not just a beautiful on the outside but on the inside as well…She tries hard to fight her attraction for him but is not really successful….
Circumstances beyond their control….when a sandstorm comes their way and forces them to be alone again…..it’s time to admit that they cannot see each being apart…
[image]
This was one of the cutest couples in this series. I loved their sexual tension, their banter and their romance build-up.
Naturally there are some bad people doing bad things and having evil intentions towards the Breeds and some new and totally endearing characters…my favorites after Jehan and Seraphina were Jehan’s brother and Seraphina’s older sister!!! What lovable and engaging characters and hopefully we will get more of those two in the future…and of course more of Jehan and Seraphina.
Although this is a novella, the author managed to write a really good storyline with great character development over so few pages.
A great addition to this series.

The 7th Month, book #5.5 in Lisa Gardner’s Detective D.D. Warren Series, is a short and quick read – the story takes place over 24 hours.
D.D. Warren is now desk-bound, 7 months pregnant and bored out of her mind. So when she’s approached by a movie producer offering her a job as a police consultant on his latest movie about a serial killer. The plot just never grabbed me……..and page before each chapter outlining the “how-to” guidelines for murder, made no sense to me.
The story wrapped up pretty fast…yes, I know, this is a short story….also never got to know the secondary characters, never mind that I cared nothing for them either.
I have to be honest and say that the only part of this little book that I enjoyed were the scenes between D.D. and her man, Alex. Their relationship is pretty awesome……………and “reading” D.D. thoughts about her man….cute!!!
I am so looking forward to reading the next book.

[image] I was a bit disappointed….perhaps it had something to do with this being a novella because the story felt somewhat rushed and I just didn’t feel connected to the two main characters.
Hades didn’t sparkle to me!! He dawdled around Cat aka Cataclysm, fallen angel because she was in cahoots with the wicked angel Gethel, who nearly caused a world apocalypse in one of the previous books, and is now working in hell for Azagoth trying to be a good girl so she can go back to Heaven.
Hades then finds himself trying to save Cat from bad demons even if it means that it will have so not good results in his trying to get out of the hell-hole he was thrown to years and years ago.!!!!
Look, it’s not a bad story but just not great and I am happy I read this addition to the series. Just didn’t excite me!!!

It’s been more than [image] Bold Tricks, the conclusion to this series was totally unexpected….talk about mind-blowing!!
It had me on the edge of my seat as I tried to figure out where the characters would end up at. The suspense was nail-biting!!! Ellie has been internalizing who she is and what she wants to do with her life.
She’s torn between her feelings for the two men in her life.
Camden McQueen, the tattooed artist and musician who she has known since her youth and has always loved her

Despite how he had behaved towards her in the last book, he has always been there for her…..she believes that he may be the only person who can redeem and make her a better personal [image] Javier, her first love, the ruthless, cynical and selfish, a manipulator

Loved this……
[image]
And Camden….hot and sexy and totally lovable!!
There were quite a few surprises at the end but I was so happy that there was a HEA for Ellie…..of course if you want to know who with…..guess you will have to read the Trilogy!!!!
If you haven’t read it…I can’t recommend it enough. It will blow you away!

Really!!! I am so not a fan of short stories/novellas…most of them feel like …..shall we make a wee bit more cash out of our fans!!!! What exactly do we get out of these pages that are an important addition to the series???
Allright, so we now know how Kade Quinn, vampire slayer, is turned into one himself and how the woman he loves, Andrea Cole, vampire slayer as well, will deal with his new “status”.
We don’t get enough about these two characters to be able to truly engage with them. Their story was far too short for that.

BooNumbers, the latest addition to Laurann Dohner’s New Species Series contains 2 novellas in the book, hence it being listed as #14-15 in the series.
Book 1: New Species feline previously known as #140, introduced in Wrath #6 in the series, is now known as Mourn. Having lost his mate from all the tests carried out by Mercile, he’s now determined to ending his life. He has no purpose to continue living and does everything possible to be taken down by his Species brothers.
Dana is visiting her brother Paul, who works as a medic in Homeland’s Medical Section, where she meets Mourn. Having lost her loving husband to cancer, she understands what Mourn is going through. She wants to help ease his pain. would have liked a bit more of their relationship and a bit less about their dead spouses.
This was a sweet story of two people in pain, who find solace in each other.
Book 2:This is Hero previously known as #927, who was introduced in Valiant #3 in the series, having been the one to keep Valiant’s mate, Tammy safe during their capture before they had been rescued. As a child, during his captivity, he had shared a cell with Candi, a human child and daughter of an evil Mercile scientist. The two children had formed a very strong bond but when Hero was rescued, he believed what he had been told – that he had killed her.
Candi was transferred from the Mercile labs to a mental institution by her father, who had told her that 927 had been destroyed. After years of pain and abuse and torture by one of her father’s assistants, she’s not become redundant after her father’s death….and Candi knows that this is the last chance she will have to escape before the assistant kills her.
Fleeing after being forced to kill Penny, the assistant, or be killed, she hitchhikes across the country determined to find Homeland, the place she’s heard that she will be safe.
Hero and Candi discover that they have been lied to about each other’s so called deaths when she finally arrives at the New Species home.
I felt for these two. The torture and hurt they experienced. The things they did to keep each other safe during their time together as prisoners in a cage, was really sad to read about.
There are a lot of issues both will have to deal with before they can be together again. Candi never gives up on Hero. She loves him and she knows he loves her. She will do anything to get him to see that the two were always meant to be together.
Their story was my favorite in this book. I just wished it had been a bit longer.

We have been introduced to both in previous books and here is get their HEA.
Their romance is sweet and heart-warming. I particularly enjoyed the time the two spent together at her home. They were a perfect couple. Even though it was a quick and short story, the author still did a great job at developing the characters.
I loved getting to know more about the Dark Fae world - Niniane and Tiago play a big part in this story and it was lovely to see how Niniane handles being Queen in the intriguing political arena of her court.
I can't wait for the next book............and more of Pia and Dragos!!!!

But Cat’s Lair was more than just disappointing…..it was beyond totally boring!!!!!
I was hoping that Cat Benoit’s story would be a good one!!! But what happened??? Starting with Cat hiding from her evil and violent Rafe Cordeau, to whom her mother had sold to when she was eleven years old, it continues with her working in a bookshop/café and meeting the mysterious Riley Cromer, who actually is Eli someone, a leopard shifter.
Then they have sex. She then discovers the truth about Eli. Then they have sex again. He rescues her. Then they have sex again. She makes great coffee for him in his hideaway home. Then they have sex again…..and so it goes on and on and on!!!!!
Its coffee, sex, open for me, I love your taste, you are mine, say you are mine, let go for me and so on and on and on….. Okay, let me skim over some pages…..and some more pages…maybe there will be something interesting happening next!!!!
Well, apart from the part where we get to meet up with Jake Bannaconni and his wife, Emma and their kids from Burning Wild (Leopard People #3), and the other leopard shifters, nothing else happened that was of interest to me.
I was hoping that we would get some background info on Rafe Cordeau and who he was and why he did the things he did….but no……..absolutely nothing….he was just a bad guy and a rogue and gone mad shifter!!!! The end!!!!
I was so looking forward to this book but it just did not do it for me.
I am hoping that the next installment will get me back into this series!!!! ...more

I justI so wanted to like this book. The 4th book in Christine Feehan's Sisters of the Heart Series and tells the story of Lexi and Graviil Prakenskii.
I just could not engage with the two main characters. Their whole interaction just seemed a bit off for me.
The plot was okay but the story just moved so slow and with so much repetition...the same thing over and over again.
What made me finish the book was that I wanted to finally get to see the Prakenskii brothers finally being together again. And the scenes with Benito were a joy to read...he's a really unforgettable character.
I'm not sure about this series that has not grabbed me as much as the author's Dark Series and even the Drake Sisters stories. ...more

I decided to read Tycoon by Katy Evans, because (a) I really liked the only book I've read before by this author, Mr President, (see my review here.... https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3... ) (b) I love Greek heroes!!!! and (c) yes, I liked the cover!!!
This was like an okay read for me. There were just too many things that didn't work for me.
The plot has been done so many times before.....friends to lovers, second chance at love, cold and unfeeling billionaire hero who melts when he falls in love....and so on....I don't have a problem with this kind of plot, but somehow there was something that didn't get me engaged with the story.
The hero -Aaric Christos (hell, his name totally "disturbed" me.....I know millions of Greeks but have never met an Aaric...okay, maybe his parents just loved that name...however, what the hell is the man called...Aaric or Christos...........the heroine and the other characters call him Aaric and in the next paragraph....it's Christos!!!). Not letting that little name peeve get to me, I actually liked the guy. He wasn't this uber alpha a@#$%%^e.....he had a heart. I also liked honesty and the way he dealt with the people in his life.
The heroine - Bryn aka Bit Kelly.....former rich girl who lost her parents and her money now needs the help of her former school friend...who had been poor and beneath her social standards then and is now rich and has the money she needs to start up her company. There were some parts I liked with Bryn...like when she walks the dogs to make money...hell, things are bad in NYC....for a girl without money. The part when she promises to take the homeless woman for dinner if she gets the finance for her company...........But on the whole???? I'm not sure I liked her........the interaction with her best friend and roommate was so juvenile and immature...in fact both of them were beyond immature!!! I wasn't too bothered by her chasing Aaric aka Christos, even though he had a girlfriend........hell, girlfriends...all is fair in love and war!!!!
The plot -The first 50% of the story was a bit slow...dragged on and on.....
The characters -Couldn't really connect with any of them....okay, maybe Aaric aka Christos (you see what I mean about his name!!!!)There was something about him that pulled me in!!!
So, in conclusion..........cute, sweet.........just missed the 3 star rating....because of the totally "weird" ending....or cliff-hanger...whatever you call it!!! Really!!!
I suppose I will have to wait for the follow-up to check out what happens with THE CLIFFHANGER!!!!...more
