She stumbles upon an all girls game and finds herself blossoming into her newfound confidence, making friends for life and opening up to a love where she's actually treated with the respect she deserves.
A heart-warming YA novel with a decent amount of rep, the first half is a little slow but picks up in the second half!

I think I've realised that this type of dynamic just isn't for me.
I did enjoy the development of the world building in this book and specifically Pary's and Gwen's' storyline, I wish that would have been explored more because I preferred their dynamin over the MCS.

We follow a dual perspective story following Veyka Pendragon, a princess who shouldn’t exist, and Arran Earthborn, the Brutal Prince whose past has earned him such a name. Both from different territories, and betrothed to one another to bring peace across the lands.
Enemies to lovers, messy politics, betrayals, magic and steamy scenes.

I enjoyed my time reading this book and found the world interesting although confusing at times, I feel as though this book could have been longer to explore the very interesting world and magic system the author was building. I feel like a lot was left unsaid or up for my own interpretation.
However, the interesting plot kept me reading and I'm glad I stuck with this one.
Reminded me of The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow which I enjoyed.

'StarlingI loved this book!!, Alix's writing is just so magical and her stories are filled with wonder and mystery you want to keep turning the pages.
'Starling House' is about a girl called Opal who fights to keep her and her brothers heads above water, a derelict house that haunts her in the middle of the night and has a mind of its own, and its current owner, a strange man who goes by the name of Arthur Starling.
We follow Opal as she's drawn towards the house, hoping to unravel its strangeness, yet the closer she gets, the less she knows, and the more she's determined to understand the mysteries of the Starling's and the rotting house she can't seem to stay away from. We follow her down the rabbit hole of story telling, strange beasts, nightmares and mysteries.
A perfect autumnal read for anyone that loves gothic fairy tales

It's an urban fantasy that takes place mostly in New York as we follow Cassie who is left a book that can open doors everywhere. Upon trying to find out more about this magical book, she and her friend are thrust into a world of danger and atrocities.
It went a lot darker then I was expecting as the tone of the book felt light hearted at the beginning, but I didn't mind as it reflected the reality of magical tomes in the hands of those with, lets just say..... not so nice thoughts.
A few unexpected twists that kept me turning the pages and I liked what the author did with time travel, but I feel like there was a little bit to be desired with the magic system. Although bare in mind I am someone who reads fantasy series rather then standalones.
Overall I enjoyed it and would recommend to those who enjoy urban fantasy standalones that have mysterious magic.

I did think it was a bit insta-lovey too, almost like the author needed to find a quick way to get these two strangers to like one another before it all quickly falls apart within the first couple of chapters, it didn’t feel very natural. It was still, however, a fun read that didn’t take itself too seriously (like sex rituals unserious-ness) and the spice level was pretty tame and enjoyable for the plot of the book. There were however, a few irks for me, one of them was how much I cringed when Riley was carelessly throwing around precious and very old artefacts found in the castle, not to mention in front of the love interest who just so happens to be an archaeologist, and yet this was glossed over and I feel as if it should have caused some reaction in Clark, the carelessness at times was a bit much and frustrated me. Also, can you please tell me why, in a pub in Scotland, they order burgers under Clark’s recommendation?? And tell me why Clark, an Englishman, is living in an RV Winnebago in Scotland?? It just didn’t make a lot of sense… oh and how Riley bought boxed Mac and cheese from the ‘grocery’ store when I know it’s not really a thing in the UK, Mac and cheese sure, but boxed Mac and Cheese I have never seen in my life. Overall, it’s a fun book and I definitely enjoyed my time reading it but the minor details bothered me too much for me to rate this higher. The short interludes throughout the story that give more context to how Pie and Logan met work well and help build a solid foundation for them as a couple.
The plot was fun and light, sending Logan on an adventure after his retirement to save his husband, plunging him back into a world he thought he'd already walked away from. Joining him on the adventure we have a necromancer and her undead horses, along with a few other interesting characters we meet along the way.
The overall vibe of the book was fun and light hearted, definitely not a heavy, political, world building fantasy, but one that was thoroughly enjoyable nonetheless, a perfect light fantasy.

The information is approachable and easy to absorb, although a bit dense in some places, whilst even those with lots of knowledge about gender will have something they can take away from this book. A brief commentary on gender definitions and their roles and presence throughout history with lots of scientific facts to support the authors words, the graphic novel definitely feels more like an a book of factual information rather then a 'story'. Lots of important information to gain from such a quick read and would recommend to anyone to develop a deeper understanding of gender, LGBTQIA+ and themselves....more

All the cosiness and comfort and magic is still very much present throughout the book that I adored in Legends & Lattes whilst giving us a glimpse into Viv's past that we heard so much about in book one. Whist this novel has more elements of 'action' in it, it didn't feel too heavy or out of place and I love reading books about characters who love books.
Its everything cosy and warm, found family, friendships and first loves with a sprinkle of baked goods and bookshops.

This story is a companion novel taking place in the same world as A Dowery of Blood as we follow two girls obsession with their teacher then turning into an obsession with each other. It's a dark, sultry, gothic, sapphic horror/romance that takes place in an academic setting, following themes of dangerous devotion, enemies to lovers, and power play dripping in blood.
Overall I loved this, not as much as Dowery, but close!!

I'm a huge fan of sarcastic, grumpy, take no bs characters, and that mixed with a character who quite frankly a golden ray of sunshine, creates a relationship dynamic I'm absolutely here for.
Ethan I absolutely adored and genuinely appreciated how cold he can be at times because I feel this made him more relatable, and his relationship with Javier is just so adorable and pure, you can really tell how much they care for one another. The amount of times I caught myself smiling like a child over their adorableness, I've lost count. Although their relationship and it's dynamic is a big part of this story, it absolutely doesn't overshadow the plot and the other characters and their individual storylines.
The dystopian setting is unique and unlike anything I've ever read before, and low key a little too real (rich people are unhinged) :') and the magic system is fascinating and I would love to learn more about *prays for future novels*
The cast of lgbtqia+ characters, the writing, and the world are insanely good, you can really tell how much dedication and effort the author put into creating this debut!
p.s. it's also illustrated
