Danse macabre уз screamo стихове “Breathe easy / The doctors are about to arrive / What a passive thought when the truth is that I've taken your life” комеша се са јапанским visual kei напевима и shoegaze/goth призивачима духова.
Deeper Into You (Ludovico Technique) или No Way Out (Not Enough Space),

Chained slave gangs had their hands beaten with rifle butts and amputated as a punishment. When no longer useful, workers were lined up behind one another and shot with a single bullet. Sick or wounded labourers were thrown to dogs to be eaten. It is not clear how much of this Conrad himself witnessed. But what he saw was enough to affect him for the rest of his life.”
“Most contemporary critics agree that the novel is about the essential emptiness at the core of humanity—and language,” вели shmoop.com.
Ако је лик расиста, не значи да је и писац који му ставља у уста баш ове речи: “This conquest of the earth, which mostly means the taking it away from those who have a different complexion (…) than ourselves, is not a pretty thing.”

• “A taint of imbecile rapacity blew through it all, like a whiff from some corpse. By Jove! I’ve never seen anything so unreal in my life. The most you can hope from it is some knowledge of yourself—that comes too late—a crop of unextinguishable regrets. I have wrestled with death.” • “He had summed up—he had judged. ‘The horror!’ He was a remarkable man. After all, this was the expression of some sort of belief; it had candour, it had conviction, it had a vibrating note of revolt in its whisper, it had the appalling face of a glimpsed truth—the strange commingling of desire and hate. And it is not my own extremity I remember best—a vision of greyness without form filled with physical pain, and a careless contempt for the evanescence of all things—even of this pain itself.” • “I found myself back in the sepulchral city resenting the sight of people hurrying through the streets to filch a little money from each other, to devour their infamous cookery, to gulp their unwholesome beer, to dream their insignificant and silly dreams. They trespassed upon my thoughts. They were intruders whose knowledge of life was to me an irritating pretence, because I felt so sure they could not possibly know the things I knew. Their bearing, which was simply the bearing of commonplace individuals going about their business in the assurance of perfect safety, was offensive to me like the outrageous flauntings of folly in the face of a danger it is unable to comprehend. I had no particular desire to enlighten them, but I had some difficulty in restraining myself from laughing in their faces so full of stupid importance. I daresay I was not very well at that time.”

“Critic Meyer H. Abrams explains in his influential study The Mirror and the Lamp: Romantic Theory and the Critical Tradition that in discussion of the purpose of art, the metaphor of the “mimetic mirror [is] familiar in older aesthetic theory,” but by the nineteenth century such an understanding of poetry merely reflecting an objective world was replaced by the metaphor of the lamp, where the artist sees the world as being “bathed in an emotional light he has himself projected.” Suddenly poets are practicing not just prosody, but theurgy; for the Romantic, versifying was conjuration and mere atheism doesn’t mean the extinction of the demonic, for artists would now be able to also create ex nihilo. From Frankenstein to Shelley’s Prometheus Unbound and Lord Byron’s closet-drama Caine, an archetype of poet as genius creator—as magus, wizard, and necromancer—permeates the literature of the period, lending itself to a mad and vibrant diabolism.”
On the Operation of Demons by Michael Psellos.

Dawn of Ashes – Poisoning the steps of Babel
(hide spoiler)]

* (view spoiler)["Images like ‘mother nature’ achieve two things: They naturalize women They feminize nature What this means is that nature is imaged as a woman whose basic tasks include reproduction and nurture. Then, women's functions are seen as ‘natural’ to her. Together, these two dimensions ignore the role of culture and society in imposing functions on the woman. By arguing that women are like nature because of their biology is to ascribe qualities to the woman. Likewise to say that nature is ‘mother’ is to assume that the basic task of nature is to sustain and provide for the human race. Feminists suggest that these qualities of women and nature are both attributes given by males. As a result i. men dominate both women and nature, ii. men assume and act as though both women and nature are to be exploited by men. Ecofeminist thought emerges from this basic assumption: both women and nature are equally oppressed by male ways of thinking and action." Nayar, Pramod K. Contemporary literary and cultural theory: From structuralism to ecocriticism. Pearson Education India, 2009.
"Hardy’s “visualising language” (Berger 1990: xi) is thus a product of the social and cultural upheavals which are also the subjects of his fiction: economic migration; the class system and social mobility; the nature of femininity and the role of women; the debunking of the world of tradition and superstition; and the perpetual moral and intellectual uncertainty of modern life. His melodramatic visual imagination therefore develops in response to a wider crisis of vision and language being felt right across late Victorian cultural practices and movements, elite and popular, literary and visual. At one extreme it was felt in the breakdown of established canons of artistic representation and the rise of new theories, practices, and movements: Impressionism, Aestheticism, Decadence and counter-Decadence, Naturalism, Symbolism. At the other extreme, the crisis was felt in the “sensory violence” of everyday urban life (Singer 2001: 62), where, as Ben Singer has shown, the nerves, shaken by the chaos of human and animal traffi c and the constant threat of crime, injury or death, are over-stimulated by an unrelenting assault of visual and linguistic signs, in advertising and in the increasingly sensational and melodramatic forms of popular entertainment referred to above."
