I think it might be due to Dr. Paul Johnston inexperience with men and only just came out of the closet. I wish I actually read the previous book Heart Trouble to know about what he did there that make the nurses in the hospital hate him and resulting in a sexual harassment complaint. I thought Paul is very endearing with his nurturing nature and his protectiveness towards Zane, a patient he hardly knows.
Zane recently got assaulted by his stepfather that landed him in the ER under the care of Paul. When Paul turned up again in his life via their common friend, Zane just sorta hit on him. I find their attraction believable, but there isn't a decent build up before they start jumping each other bones. I did enjoyed reading their friendly and flirty interaction, especially their bedroom shenanigans and their new dog Polka Dot. The only serious issue we dealt with is mainly Paul's career that is hanging by the rope. The last thing he needs while on paid vacation is to hook up with an ex-patient. Zane doesn't expect much from Paul due to his low self worth, but Paul might just prove he is worth fighting for.

But I'm not satisfied with the journey, especially the romance. The romantic in me feel that both the heroes spent too much time apart, hating each other, they don't communicate and then there are only a handful of times they reluctantly met each other. When they finally 'talk' and express their feelings, is almost at 70%.
I feel so sad for Micah. He was punished severely for an accident when he was just a teenager. Everyone act as though he took a knife and stab somebody. The worst is the way Daniel treated him. I'm mad at Daniel for half the book, until I finally see what he been through on his end. Is not easy to deal with an accident that befall your family member and coupled with his recent PTSD.
I wish the book actually dedicated more time to Daniel and Micah reconnecting with each other. I wish Daniel forgive Micah earlier and we can see how they make their relationship works in the town they grew up in. Micah was dealing with his sister's problem and Daniel is dealing with his PTSD. But these problems are dealt separately. I wish they actually help each other to heal. That is what I wish to read in a romance. While overall the story did captivate me, I was left wholly unsatisfied with Micah and Daniel's relationship.

Ripley is a psychopath, a ruthless, menacing man and you wish you were dead if you actually meet him. I need to actually get my head check that I find his skill and personality - charismatic. Thinking about him just make shiver run down my spine, in a good way.
Honestly, with the numbers of scary anti-heroes I've met, the things Ripley did here isn't something I've never seen. I guess I've read too much and sorta immune to violence and gore. If you are new to this, maybe don't eat your lunch while reading.
The heroine, Dylan is a feisty little thing. She's young and vulnerable, might be a tad naive and inexperience, but she is a tough nut and a fighter. Despite her age, she's not someone to be underestimate. I like that her character had a good balance between strong and weakness.
The entire read is filled with suspense and intrigued. I guarantee you are gonna got hook right from the first page till the last and dying for the next one.
This is a serial with four episodes, but fear not for the cliffhangers as each subsequent episode will be release in a week succession. I have all four with me right now and I'm gonna devour it asap, while feeling guilty for not savoring it slowly.

Jody the street hustler was suppose to swindle Cyril's fortune, but what transpired between them was something so much more. I was instantly drawn to Jody's character, a man on the wrong side of the law, but can't seem to bring himself to hurt the naive and trusting Cyril. Despite the circumstances of Cyril and Jody's meeting each other, the angst level is quite moderate. Cyril was simply too much of a sweetheart to have the decency to hate on Jody even after finding out the truth. On Jody's part, he never felt good enough. He may be a good lover, but he dare not hope for more. It broke my tender little heart to see these two mens struggle with their want and desire. Don't get me wrong, they hooked up aplenty, but when it comes to planning for a future, they seems so bleak (as with all the other historical m/m romance). Anyway, I do love the direction of the story and about their voyage and the action that Cyril took in order to reunite with his lover. They both seems to reunite again and again and every reunion seems sweeter than the last....more

This is another epic installment for our beloved series. We are back again with Dom and Seth and things couldn't get more wrong for my boys. Every time before I start on a new installment, I will take a deep breath and brace myself for the things to come, but no amount of mental preparation can prepare me for this.
The entire story took place in Singapore where Dom and Seth went for a vacation, but of course, they end up bumping into the elusive Mr. Tropico and their lovely holiday turned into bloodshed in a split second. I'm someone who lives within driving distance to Singapore and I might not look at it the same way ever again.
The writing duo are a total sadist. I bet they spent all their time plotting and planning ways to torture the characters without killing them. The events that Dom and Seth went through in this book are way out of my comfort zone, yet I still read it with such ferocity that I finished it in one day. I'm glad that we finally get some answer in regards to the unsolved mystery pertaining Seth and his family and what caused these violence and death.
This series is really long and sometime I wonder where are we heading for, but in this Book 9, I feel we are finally moving forward and the end goal is something I can visualize already. There are a couple more books to go and I don't know how much more do they need to suffer. I wonder my poor heart can take all these stress and anxiety. I'm practically sweating bullets reading this. What makes it such a worthwhile read is the love between Dom and Seth. They have been through so much, coming back from the brink of death many times and they are now stronger than ever. I'm really proud of my boys. They are both such polar opposite, yet they fit so well together. Looking back to the early days, I can appreciate how far they have come and grow as a person, as well as a couple....more

This short story is so Oh boy, I didn't know Charlie Cochet can write such a hilarious paranormal story. I've only read her romantic suspense before. This short story is so fun with crazy adventures. We have a grumpy and infuriating feline shifter, Prince Owin and his bodyguard, Grimm the wolf shifter. Despite his name, Grimm actually has a fun loving personality. He is so chilled and smiles all the time, even with Prince Owin threatening his every move.
When Prince Owin along with Grimm was sent on a quest by the King, they overcome obstacles and challenges that brought them closer together. I enjoyed reading about Owin's princely/diva attitude, he is insufferable and annoyingly cute, he's a cat after all. He hissed and he bite and he hate his bodyguard, or he thought he did. However, when face with danger, Grimm's protective instinct rise to the surface and Owin realized maybe he didn't hate Grimm after all.
This short read is amazing and choked full of action, humor and some ridiculousness that reminds me a bit of TJ Klune. From enemies to lovers, the relationship progression seems natural despite the short span of pages, although I find the part whereby they decided to 'mate' a tad fast. Nevertheless, the HEA left me fully satisfied. A well worth read....more

Ebook - 9/2019 Another winner by Lily Morton. I can't get enough of this author, she never fails to deliver with her adorable characters, witty humor and swoony romance. Zeb Evans is the older bossman who is all primp, proper, mature and loves to organize. Jesse Reed is a much younger employee, someone totally opposite of Zeb. Jesse is all messy and chaotic, but also lively and fun and everyone loves his sunny disposition including his stoic boss, Zeb.
The boss / employee dynamic do reminds me of Rule Breaker, but with less angst. Zeb and Jesse actually like each other since the beginning even though Zeb remain professional and tends to act as if Jesse is insufferable, especially with Jesse playful antics. Their verbal sparring is a joy to read, so sarcastic, so annoyingly adorable.
Their professional relationship took a turn when Zeb impulsively asked Jesse to be his fake boyfriend to attend his ex wedding. Let just say, the ex, Patrick is a total wanker. Even the family members are awful. I'm especially ecstatic when Jesse being Jesse can't keep his mouth shut and decided to give everyone a piece of his mind whenever someone dare to insult Zeb. He's the best side kick anyone could ever have. Jesse is loyal, passionate and caring and I love him to bits.
On the other hand, Zeb is quite a stubborn man and needed someone to shake some sense into him. He overthink everything and sometimes make awful decision thinking is the right thing to do. Is hard to even be mad at him when he is being so damn honorable. Zeb is successful and a hot silver fox, yet all he feels are insecurities when he face with the amazing Jesse. Also he is being too nice to his wanker of an ex, which contributed to some minor angst towards the end. Anyhow, this book mainly make you smile and laugh and just swoon dreamily.

With the three heirs as the new owner and a new coach, will they be able to rise from the ashes. Our beloved Ryker made a few appearances, but our focus is on one Coach Rowen Carmichael and the youngest heir, Mark.
Rowen is an ambitious and no nonsense coach and he is opinionated, egoistic and domineering man, who is a total pain the ass to Mark. From their first meeting, sparks fly and they bicker relentlessly because they can't agree on anything. I enjoyed all the moment they are up on each other nose and wish they would just shut up and make kissy faces.
However, once Rowen and Mark start sleeping together, things sorta fizzle out and the romance took a back seat. The story seems to shift the focus more on the team and Mark's family drama. There was a moment when Mark invited Rowen for a family dinner, which Rowen accepted and all I feel is 'since when they are together?' in the relationship sense and not just fuck buddies. It may feel natural to them to just progress without making a big deal, but I wanted to read more of those pesky feelings that they develop for each other. There was whole load of family drama with Mark, but I didn't see him sharing it with Rowen.
Overall, I feel from the hockey POV, things are solid, but the romance was just okay. Both of them have a common goal of saving Arizona Raptors from further ruin. Rowen want to win some games and Mark need to woo some investor. There are also some clean up that need to be done to the team, especially getting rid of a certain problematic player. There are plenty of scenes that were dedicated to the game, which are engrossing and make me excited for the outcome. It may takes time, but I believe the future is bright for the Raptors....more

Told entirely from Hawes Madigan's POV, he is the Prince of Killers who is taking over his family empire and because he is a good guy at heart, there are people who want to unseat him.
In comes Dante Perry, who is a PI with information for Hawes and wanted to help him. I honestly don't know much about Dante and his mission and why did he keep popping up in Hawes life. Everything is a puzzle for me and I'm full of questions, but I can see that Hawes do appreciate his presence.
There are more suspense and twist and turn towards the end, which gave me a good whiplash. The more revelation I learned, the more I nervous I got. As for the romantic development between Hawes and Dante, there's just too much secrecy for it to be anything good. Despite Hawes position in the family empire, he is a vulnerable man who is trying to hold everything together and he needs Dante by his side, but with Hawes keeping one of the biggest secret from Dante, I don't know how he thinks it will work out in the long run. For me it feels doomed from the beginning. Suffice to say the book ends with a cliffhanger that the author forewarned in the beginning. The next book can't come soon enough. ...more

Aidan is a tree surgeon who was hit with an accident. As he lay on the hospital bed, he met a quirky roommate, Ludo. Ludo is bipolar, but not the split personality kind that I read before. Ludo mind can be a chaotic mess, but he can also be so sweet and caring to the grumpy Aidan.
Compare to Garrett's other works, this one is less angsty. Aidan is a grumpy and lonely fellow, but he is always kind to Ludo. Ludo also prefer to be on his own to deal with his condition, but keeping himself away from Aidan prove to be challenging and faith brought them back together again.
I like their relationship which came off as slow burn with both very understanding of each other circumstances. I knew there was going to be a set back on Ludo's condition and I was bracing myself for something bad to happen, however, I'm please that it isn't overly dramatic and was handled pretty well with low amount of angst.

Both of them keeping secrets from each other really frustrate me for half the book. There was no lack of sexy times, but I wish they will start trusting each other more.
Hudson, Wes and the gang came up with a new PI firm and there are some argument between them regarding the cases. There are a few paranormal cases that they took up and initially I felt overwhelmed, but of course we found out that it was all linked!
Wes is getting more powerful from the aftermath in Book 1. I actually not sure how I feel about his new status with this almighty power and it didn't help that Wes keep angst-ing over his predicament. Despite Hudson being a vamp himself, I felt that Hudson didn't really have any opportunity to shine. It seems that in all the crucial moments, everyone is dependant on Wes. I hope to see more of a balance partnership in future books or just let Hudson be the badass vamp that he is meant to be. As for Wes and Hudson's relationship, I'm glad to see they are finally moving forward to the next stage and trusting each other. ...more

Following a team of college hockey players, there a big emphasize of friendship and family and I'm glad to see Benoit living together with Ryker, Scott and Haynes.
Benoit is goalie and as usual goalies are weird and the author manage to give him a different kind of weirdness compare to our legendary Stan. Ben is super dedicated on his studies and hockey for his final year in Owatonna. His family depend on him to be pick up by a professional team. There is so much pressure that he put on himself and he had no time for love.
The appearance of Ethan Girard, a retired player recuperating from a broken leg prove to be too much a temptation for Ben. Can I just say that I'm jealous of Ethan's new life? He's retired at 32 with so much money and not sure what should he do next. I'm green with envy. I find his interest in Ben super adorable. He played it cool and yet Ben was hooked, line and sinker. Ethan is just so laidback and he adores Ben.
There was an ongoing joke about their 10 years age gap, which I find it absolutely endearing. The addition of Ryker, the housemates, a potential stalker and their team fighting for the championship keep the plot moving at a quick pace. This is the end of Owatonna U series, but with the teaser we got for the next spin off series, I will be anxiously awaiting the next release....more

In fact, when This might just be my favorite of the entire Finding Home series up to date and I don't even like Gideon when I met him in Milo's book. In fact, when I realized he will have his own book, for the first time I'm not counting down the days for a Lily Morton's release. I'm not surprised that the great, Ms Morton can change my mind, but I'm surprised that I love this book so much.
Gideon is a closeted celebrity and a total twat. The story begin with him at his lowest point in life, but he still have his snark and silver tongue when it comes to facing his brother and the limited friends he had. I might actually find it funny if he is younger, but being a tantrum throwing 39 year old man isn't attractive. I was thinking 'grow up, Gid. Stop being a wanker'.
In came a Mary Poppins/Florence Nightingale in the form of Eli Jones to salvage the mess that is Gideon Ramsay. From the get go, Eli is a breath of fresh air. With Eli's charm, quick wit and endless patience, he manage to tame the wild and restless Gideon. I enjoy their daily banter despite Gideon mostly act like a grumpy old man or a child who was told he can't have candies anymore. The subtle changes from a total rebellion to reluctant obedience is fun to read.
However, the major turning point in the story is definitely the reunion with them finally able to act on their feelings. Eli is usually all laid back and chill, but turn oh-so-forceful in the bedroom. That totally came as a surprised. They are totally burning up the sheets and I'm moaning along. Definitely need an audio for this.
There are so much growth on Gideon's character that I'm just in awe with him. Along the way I'm holding my breath just dreading the moment he might do something stupid and ruin everything, but thank goodness I underestimate his new found maturity. It just warms my heart to see both him and Eli wanted the best for each other and willing to go the extra mile to work on their relationship.
It shouldn't go unmentioned that the rest of the cast, Oz, Silas, Milo and Niall are some prominent supporting characters that added so much to the charm of this book and the series itself. A must read series!

Colin, a med student lead a mundane but highly demanding life. One day he decided to spice up his life by taking a wrong way home, which lead to some big consequences.
Here comes, Taron, who is mute, a literally ax murderer who was caught red handed by Colin. Suffice to say, Taron can't let Colin leave him now. Cue Stockholm Syndrome because we knew they are going to fuck and Colin is going to enjoy it.
Yes, Taron is a captor and a murderer, but I don't feel the intensity of this being a dark romance because Taron isn't actually a bad guy. There isn't any torture scene or any moment whatsoever that I want bad things to happen to Taron. There was one moment that I wanted him to do the right thing, but I also understand how he came to such a decision. His character may appeal to reader who can't stomach villainous hero.
The circumstances that brought Colin and Taron together might be unusual, but they seems to find a common ground and their mutual love for off grid living. I'm actually jealous of Taron's homestead and I was contemplating off grid living with my dogs. Colin didn't just fell into insta-lust with his captor. His emotion is running havoc and he was thinking of ways to flee all the time, which is only normal and I was more interested to see how Taron slowly changed his mind.
Wrong Way Home is a refreshing take on the captor/captive theme, a bratty, opinionated captive with his mute captor who love cats....more

I have a thing for hitman, so there's that, but Weston and Eli really stood out to me.
Weston is a hitman with the worst luck ever since he broke up with his wife. He had been cursed by the scorned ex, who is totally cray cray. I've read some crazy exes, but Ava takes the cake. Weston is having all the bad juju and although I feel bad for him, I also find it hilarious to see his suffering. I'm such a sadist and Weston is the kind of character that is easy to make fun of.
Eli is a Coast Guard and he also facing his own set of problem that will threaten his job and safety. These two men, each with one foot in the closet door and the worst of luck got together was just epic with bullet flying and everything.
I just love the way they bicker about everything from who is topping who, about gun fetish to opinion on furniture. They might not know each other well, but they bicker like husbands who find the other half truly annoying, but love him anyway. I will always remember the funniest scene in the book when Weston was high and off his rocker at the hospital and Eli trying to break him out without strangling Weston himself. There are simply too many instances whereby I was making all the weird faces in front of my kindle trying to avoid laughing out loud and my husband looking over at me making sure I'm still sane.
The suspense and the mystery keep me guessing till the end. My mind keep thinking 'What the hell is happening??', 'why is the wife so crazy?', someone please explain to me STAT because I need answers! I had no idea whether this will be a standalone or a series, but finger crossed I'm hoping the author will announce the sequel soon because I couldn't get enough of these two and there are things still unresolved. And for those who needs to know how this end in terms of romance, (view spoiler)[ there is a nice HFN (hide spoiler)]....more

All the books are only slightly longer than a novella, but each brings a story that left me completely satisfied. I had a weakness for brainiac hero and Rory ticked all the boxes. Sexy, smart, kind and incredibly patient. He seems so mature and had all his shit figured out.
Christian falling for his sexy tutor is a forgone conclusion, but I find Christian incredibly brave to go for his heart desire and face the consequences head on. I enjoyed Book 1 and really looking forward to the rest of the series. Granted, I will definitely be reading the next one because I like the author's writing style and I love the secondary characters that she built up. My 3 stars for this is mainly because I don't like Dante, the hero of this story.
We know Dante, the manwhore from the previous book and Swish aka Isaac had a crush on him. After 2 years hanging about the clubhouse, Isaac decided to leave and he found a home with an elderly named Gus, who owned an animal shelter. I understand that Isaac leaving trigger something in Dante, he miss his friend, he feel protective towards Isaac and there might be some underlying feelings around there. I know deep down Dante is a good guy.
However, Dante also need to leave the clubhouse and take over his family business. Not only that, his family even find him a match and waiting for him to start breeding. Urg! This is what I can't stand, Dante acting like a sheep blindly going along with the plan. The story tried to make me sympathize with his situation, but to me stringing along not only Isaac, but another innocent woman is pure selfishness. He keep going back to Isaac, even though he know it will end badly. I feel bad for Isaac and the so-called girlfriend, but I don't feel bad for Dante at all. When he finally pulled his head out of his ass after something happened, is too late to win me over.
On the positive note, this is a book I devoured because I'm so angry, I have to finish it asap to see how everything will be resolved. I love all the secondary characters, including both the OM and OW in the story, that's a first for me. I'm definitely looking forward to Blaze/Lake and Ax/Caleb's story. ...more
