It being October, I grabbed one of Mr. King's short story collections and randomly opened to this one! And I loved it! It was tense and exciting and oh shit, the decision they made! Lovely horrifying short story. Creepy, nonsensical, perfect King. Read during Dewey's 24-Hour Readathon. There is no longer an e-book version of this on Goodreads....more

I tried to like the Kingdoms of Savannah. I've never read anything by George Dawes Green before. I had never even heard of him before seeing this ARC on BookishFirst. I chose to receive this ARC because I really liked how creepy the cover was, look at it! It's super creepy! And I liked Stony and Luke at the beginning and didn't really like any of the other characters so after what happened to them, I was pretty indifferent to the story. I didn't get any creepy vibes from the book itself. I'm not sure what I was looking for from this, but I didn't get it. I was pretty bored. I didn't find the writing lyrical. I'm really disappointed, especially because a lot of people loved it or at least really liked it. I don't think I will be seeking out anymore George Dawes Green books in the future unless someone tells me it's very different from The Kingdoms of Savannah....more

And Gwendy's story has finally come to an end. Button, button, who's got the button? From a small idea and a short story turned into a trilogy! Gwendy has grown a lot. She's an old lady now and she's going to space! I thought this was a good ending to the trilogy. Read during Dewey's 24-Hour Readathon.

I have no idea what to think. I am thrown. Final thoughts: Chriiiiiiiist talk about unlikable characters!! They were all so so awful! There was no one to root for, no one to get behind, and the motivations were just terrible. And for what? It was all so garbage-y. The ending was a mind-melter. lol. But I found myself so angry with some of the characters, they were real assholes! And the concept was a bit messed up!! Read during Dewey's 24-Hour Readathon....more
