All the praise the author claims at the end are from people affected by suicides of others, never from suicidal people finding hope in this book.
If you are experiencing suicidal ideations or would be triggered by such, please seek out resources other than this book. I do understand the authors intent was good, but it just left me angry and scared for those readers who are already in a dark place. You cannot logic or shame depression away.

Ok, I know many reviews are mid to low, and I can see them as quite valid. However I think I am one of the lucky people this book tickled in all the right ways. I related to the main character as I've experienced similar things, and he, for worse than for better, reflected me. The ending, while people will be polarized by his choice, before that when he finally faced his demons was very emotional for me. That and I listened to this on an audiobook while driving through mountains and calm country, so in many ways I hit the jackpot.
No, it's not for everyone and it has its weaknesses. But it's a good reminder for me to reflect on how the enjoyment of books can be very personal, and the ways we consume them can influence our enjoyment. I know, obvious right? But I have ADHD and forget these simple observations. ...more
