First and foremost, I love these guys. Liam, the prankster heartthrob, Ronan the forbidden “professor” type, Vincent the broody literal killer, and even Asher the arranged fiancée who wants nothing to do with Skyla. Each man brings out more and more in Skyla and helps her to find the comfort in herself.
The secret society/witches aspect was more of a tease to whet the appetite but has you invested to see what’s coming next and who they really are and are fighting against.
As I am normally a dark romance reader, I would say this is on the lighter side of it with pinches of dark thrown in. Check the trigger warnings though as there is def büllying from some of the MMCs and outlying characters.
But let’s briefly talk about spice bc this is abundant throughout. For a virgin this girl gets some action. These men are givers when she lets them in! A bit of a tease of possible MM coming with Liam being bi, and I am here for it (would love to see Vincent top him a bit, tbh).

Picking up where we left off at the end of part 1; here, we go on the hunt for Hazel and her surviving her abduction by her old pack.
I loved seeing Hazel and her men just growing closer and closer and fighting for their love and need of one another.
From parents to society to secret organization and everything in between, these five fight for their right to be together and for Omegas to have the freedom to decide what to do to and with their bodies (sound familiar to todays political culture?).
I enjoyed the peeks into the Crew family and the dads. Hazel’s uncle is trash. The other family info we see and can glean are fun tidbits into the men.
Seems like an overarching storyline was introduced in this duo and it will be continued over other books but I could be wrong. Just be aware that not *everything* is tied up in a bow at the end.

I have so many feelings about this book. Let’s start off by saying this book is not a romance novel. There is no romance here. There is manipulation, I have so many feelings about this book. Let’s start off by saying this book is not a romance novel. There is no romance here. There is manipulation, degradation, torture, and general ownership.
This is a 3.5 rounded up to 4 star read for me because while there were aspects that I enjoyed there were some things I couldn’t get past that removed me from the world of the book because it was so unrealistic or outside of my preferred kinks. All I’ll say about those is go ahead and experience it for yourself but be aware this novel takes the idea of certain kinks and makes theme deranged scenes. This is not at all to be taken as a representation of the BDSM community.
We do start to see the loosening of the reins but these two men literally took the FMC and make no apologies for being morally pitch black. However we’re starting to see a strength and perseverance from Veronica. An awareness of the darkness outside of that inside her own world.
This novel ends on a cliffhanger. Mild spoiler but also if you read dark romances that span a few books this likely won’t be too much of a surprise: I for one am hoping to see Veronica away from Ezra and Roy, and how she deals with the new hurdles in front of her away from the two men who own her.

A bit of a love triangle situation at first (not to mention touch her and die from both brothers) with Blake feeling guilty about her feelings for both brothers but once she realizes she truly can’t choose and they’re good with sharing all three go all in.
I liked Dom and Blake’s dynamic. Seeing them grow into something more and him breaking through her walls. I also enjoyed seeing Blake’s reticence for Zayden slowly grow and morph into acceptance and understanding to desire. He’s like all the bad sides of herself that Blake wouldn’t face.
Thank god for Dom and Zayden’s getting rid of the “friends” there. I’ll let you figure out in which way I mean.

A new to me author (plus a rebranding apparently), this B takes us on an interesting deep dive on when mafia and the world of hockey collide.
It was interesting to read the behind the scenes of a hockey team’s PR team. I feel like so many of the FMC’s involvement with the team has been done and the PR team was a new angle. I enjoyed Lucia being trusted to revamp Sawyer’s image and then jumping in to be his fake significant other in order to save her own butt from her mafia obligations. I enjoyed the mafia angle too. The structure and “secretiveness” that this mafia society had was fun. It was its own version of a cult. I enjoyed how the author depicted the strings that could be pulled behind the scenes of a professional sports team and how you really don’t know what’s going on with upper management.
I liked the journey and character development that both Lucia and Sawyer went on to figure out their own traumatic pasts and to move past it so as to open themselves up to finding love. As with many romances I wanted to throttle the characters at times for their lack of communicating but of course that’s easy to say as a reader when you know if happens exactly like that in real life too.
I feel like this book takes many tropes I’ve enjoyed and put them together and it was fun, but something didn’t quite hit the mark of “I want to go back and reread this.” Will I be continuing the series should there be more books? Absolutely. I wanna see what happens with some side characters and I know shenanigans will be had.

What would you do if you had no one and nothing to fall back on and were offered everything if you married an affluent bachelor? That’s what happens here but there’s a twist: these men will do anything to get and keep what they want.
I liked Wick’s character. You could tell that there was some secrets he was keeping but that he was going to provide for Sia.
Sia is a relatable character for those with childhood trauma. From fear of abandonment to the wall she builds around herself. TW for a FMC with anxiety and panic attacks. She’s so focused on her surroundings and family legacy though that she forgets about herself until she’s forced to.
While this is meant to be a short novella I did feel like there were scenes that were rushed. I would have liked to see some scenes more drawn out as they felt rushed. Primarily the scenes dealing with the characters emotional growth.

I can’t say how much I enjoyed this novel. It does read like a Hannah McBride novel (IYKYK, but also in case you didn’t Cain is the pen name of HM) wiI can’t say how much I enjoyed this novel. It does read like a Hannah McBride novel (IYKYK, but also in case you didn’t Cain is the pen name of HM) with the first part showing the FMC’s deplorable situation and upbringing. But of course there wouldn’t be a light at the end of the tunnel if there isn’t something to overcome.
This is my first omegaverse novel, though I have been hearing a lot about it. This novel does read similar to a paranormal/shifter hierarchy of characters, but without the shifter aspect. This is also my first novel with knotting that’s with non-shifter characters. While my brain kept trying to depict it I couldn’t (not to the fault of the author) and it makes me want to go down a research rabbit hole, but also not bc I’m worried about those pictures, ya know?
But back to the storyline based review: With the help of Jude, an undercover agent, the clan is disbanded and Hazel is brought to safety. Hereafter is where the men sense her as their female mate and will stop at nothing to keep her and each other safe.
I loved our Alphas and our Beta, however I wanted to smack Rhett upside the head at many points due to his stubbornness. If everyone else in the pack is saying they want to see where this goes why are you fighting and not giving it a shot?! Especially trusting your Omega when you two are so close?! But then again a hard fought romance always makes for a fun read IMO.
I love Kellan and his antics, but can’t wait for him to be more comfortable with himself and within the group.
Crew is that Alpha you want to drool over and want other MMCs to strive to be with his understanding nature and strength of character. There’s a reason why he’s the head alpha.
Jude, when not undercover, is quirky and fun. He brings levity with his sarcasm and some “realness” to the group, in my opinion. I love his interactions with Jude and how he strived to protect her in ways that wouldn’t get him found out while undercover.
Heads up though that this does end in a doozie of a cliffy (did the part 1 in the title not give that away?), leaving me yearning for part 2 to find out what happens with Hazel and the guys.

I absolutely loved the somnophilia and dub-con aspects that occur in this novel. I’m gonna stop there to not spoil it but if you enjoy that in your novels/stories it’s oh so good here!
I felt bad that Xavier didn’t really have any of his own friends or supporting characters outside of his parents, and whoo are they toxic for their own reasons. They both seem to pull Xavier down rather than support him. We do see a new face near the end I hope we get an epilogue novella somewhere down the line with more info there.
Kaye has both her mother and best friend, Chris, to support her, but both are having their own issues dealing with their relationships. Hint hint for more books.
While I loved the passion and fiery nature of Xavier and Kaye’s relationship I didn’t feel there was much “romance” to their journey. It was very much an “I’ll have you no matter what” and “no, you can’t, despite my feelings for you based on how you’ve treated me” to “well this happened and I give up.” We are told about time passing but would have loved to see more groveling and work put into a true relationship.
I will say that while I enjoyed the story the writing was stilted at times, telling more than showing, but with some fleshing out and experience I think this author will be one that is a go to for dark romance novels.

This book, book 1 in a duet, is no exception. I did not read this when it was a standalone so can’t compare to what it was, but this book left me wanting to read on to book 2 but also needing to take a moment to allow myself to decompress from it all.
I will admit, I did not like Stevie all that much. Even as someone who said “fuck, I’m in love” when I realized I’d fallen in love with someone (someone I could have and was in a relationship with) I couldn’t understand her absolute stubbornness against love/exploring her feelings. While I didn’t agree with her choices Garrick is the sweetheart I think most women dream of finding. That man who knows what he wants and is going to fight for her and wants to show her the world. Garrick simply made the story for me.
This novel was surprising in that it is a gradual buildup to the normal SD heat. We get that spiciness that we all know and sweat over, but it comes further in than I remember happening in a SD book. But oh was it swoon-worthy. That first time is every romantic’s fantasy.
A great intro read to SD’s stuff, and a easy classic for already established fans. Get ready for laughs, panting, and tears. ...more

I was thoroughly taken with this story, reading through it quickly. I fell in love with each of the relationships Raven has with her men, and the growth that each character goes through despite the oppressive situation that they are in. Strong female protagonist who isn't afraid to kick butt and stand up for herself and others. This story includes aspects of fighting an oppressive system and finding ones self despite the challenges.
*minimal spoilers/warnings* Please note there is aspects of rape culture (it is a prison setting) and physical violence against females and males. No MM, though MFM occurs. Happy ending for this book, but set up to be first in a series.
