This manga has probably one of the best art and panels written. You notice our main character Punpun is this white figure rather than an actual 3d "person", which in itself I've never seen nor read a manga that introduced a stick-figure for a main character.
I can't really explain what the story is about, but I believe as you read on it would all make sense. As for now, this is centered about Punpun's life as a young kid who's going through things at home and his crush on the new girl Aiko. Even though, it is a slice of life, the whole manga has this somber overtone and some scenes were sad. ...more

Not to sure how I feel overall with the finale, but I knew earlier that sacrifices were going to be made towards the end. To be honest, I am a tad bit disappointed because I expected more action to happen, so everything was a bit anti-climatic. Anyways, the ending was good enough that I cried with the reunion scene and the decision Essun had to make (thinking about it still makes me sad). A great chunk of The Stone Sky was focused on the mystery of the stone eaters, the location of Warrant and the past before Father Earth lost the Moon.
This has been a great trilogy and it got me out of a reading slump that I felt coming but overall I would give this series a 4.5⭐ for plot and character development....more

Time to gather my thoughts together, with that unsuspecting ending (yet it was also quite suspected). Hanya Yanagihara, knows how to write a deeply compelling story, whereby every sentence that was written is something that should be taken note of, or else information will be lost. It's as if each life lessons are learned through these written sentences.
I applaud Yanagihara for creating a such vivid story that starts slow with its tedious detailed description, but you know it's her own unique style. But as the story progresses, it sucks you in to the point that you start to feel something for this character. To be honest, I could write an essay about this book from cultural relativism in the context of anthropology, the science behind Selene syndrome and the ethics surrounding the Dreamers.
Norton Perina, is one that I like to call an "Unreliable Narrator". However, unlike the one's that I've encountered, he was a character that I disliked at the beginning because of his sense of superiority or the indifference that he has towards life. Yet, as the story progresses, I started to feel sympathy towards this renowned scientists, until that ending.
(view spoiler)[ Even my feelings about Victor is unknown because Norton is a bias narrator. However, through his perspective, Victor was definitely a child that was going through things. Yet, he didn't deserve any of that (hide spoiler)]
In my opinion, this book might not be the right cup of tea for everyone since it is quite slow. However, I do urge you all to try reading it for the experience of how this story is able to unravel itself....more
