I While I have seen both movies of The Princess Diaries, I had never read any of Meg Cabot's books. I decided to remedy that by reading this novella. I doubt I'll ever read (much of) her works again.
This novella was fun for awhile, but then I got to the part where Grandmere gets upset about a store worker calling her "Dear" and throws a huge childish fit. I found that to be extremely annoying. I live in the South, and we call lots of older people "Dear", "Hon/Honey", or "Sweetheart" if we don't know their name. For someone to find respect and common courtesy to be offensive like she did really bothers me.
I was happy that Olivia had them go back to the store at the end, where the worker explains it. But, the fact that it happened at all still bothers me.

This was a fun look into Penny's Halloween. Her family is cosplaying The Beatles: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band for Halloween this year, even though there are only 3 of them to do so. Much as Penny loves this tradition, she cannot wait to get out to spend Halloween with the LHC. She's going as Rosie the Riveter.
When an LHC member gets sprayed with shaving cream by some bratty youngsters, they take into their own hands to get revenge - and, do it in a fun way.

I went into reading Elizabeth Eulberg's trio of novellas without having read The Lonely Hearts Club or We Can Work It Out. I was intrigued by their love of all things Beatles. I enjoyed these novellas and would like to read the main books as well.

They are sent to me, in exchange for an honest review, so I will talk a little about the story, instead of going on and on about the mistakes made in these. But, when reading these books, do be prepared to encounter a fair share of mistakes, including misspellings, lowercasing names, lack of punctuation, improper punctuation, and the useage of the wrong word (like "through" for "threw", as in "He through my books in the mud."). Looking past that, they usually are an *OK* story....nothing extra, but they do usually teach a lesson. ----------------------------------- Out of the 6 or 7 JK/SP books I read tonight, this is my absolute favorite. It might be the only one of their books that I ever give 5* to (regardless of the mistakes), because I really enjoyed the story. Henry the Hedgehog and Clive the Tabby Cat love to get together to pop balloons. They do this all the time, so they have now popped over 200. However, Pippi the Poodle--who seems like a real spoilsport, just because he is not in on the fun--gets annoyed, and wants to trick them, hoping they will stop popping balloons forever. So, he rigs up a patriot balloon filled with lots of tiny water balloons to splash them as they pop. This, however, does that hinder the duo's love of popping balloons. It only makes it where they no longer do it around Pippi.
