Abbi Glines delivers yet another overdramatic country read that involves a love triangle. Yet I’m super surprised just how much I enjoyed this book. Yes it contains several soap opera moments and once again has that typical heroine who everyone deems as walking perfection. Still, I liked the characters and am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Spoilerish Review...
I have read every book this author has written to date and I’m pretty disappointed in this story. Some of this author’s books have been amazing, some were just ok, but one thing is for sure I have enjoyed both Sea Breeze and Rosemary Beach books as a whole. My excitement at the mere idea that these two series were going to merge with a Finlay – York romance was quickly blown to smithereens.
1. There are way too many characters mentioned in this story. Cord, Clay, Cruz, Finn, Ophelia, Phoenix, Lila Kate, Blaze, Zander, Larissa, Holland, Saffron, Jimmy, Micha, Eli and so on. Cousins, siblings, friends, it was endless parade of characters just to drop their names.
”If you haven’t read Sea Breeze or Rosemary Beach that’s okay. You don’t have to. This book stands alone.”
Give this reader a family tree to connect each to their parents because my head was spinning.
2. Bliss York is the same old type of heroine. Once again we get the perfect heroine not battling dyslexia or a crazy parent but in this book she has survived cancer in her youth.
Her positives for me were that her parents are Eva and Cage York. I mean I was looking forward to some stellar parenting scenes – like her and Cage talk in the barn or on the property, her and Eva piano scene, SOMETHING that made me happy I was with the York family. Sadly, the York’s were the same old parents found in any book a reader would pick up. Bliss is a little Mary Sunshine, while being the perfect virgin who the hero falls for instantly and the hero thinking even he’s not good enough for her.
”She couldn’t be mine. She deserved a prince.”
3. Readers aren’t treated to this epic fall in love Nat and Bliss have as teenagers we were simply told about it very briefly.
4. Nat Finley was a huge let down as a hero. He’s got this hang-up on having an ‘easy’ relationship but truly has had a charmed life it didn’t really add up. He is engaged to a business woman named Octavia who turns out to be Bliss boss. He’s simply weak and lacks depth.
“I loved Octavia in a way of speaking. Loved the idea of “us.” We fit. The sex was hot. She wasn’t needy. It was and had been the easiest relationship I’d ever had. I’d be stupid to destroy it.”
The manner in which he broke off his engagement in a vague text message was horrific!
In my opinion he definitely cheated on his fiancée with Bliss. Then there’s the fact that he mentions he wants out of coastal town settings and he possibly is a bad boy. His parents are barely in the book, I mean there is no way in hell that this character came from Rush and Blaire.
Once Nat ditches his fiancée for Bliss they quickly get their sexy on…
”I had never actually seen a penis but I didn’t realize they were so large. How was I supposed to get that all in my mouth.”
Bliss and Nat are happily in love for a page or two when the drama hits…
[image]
So readers will find out that there’s more to his fiancée which actually for me saved this lame story. Then again, I didn’t like how things are manipulated by the author so Nat is guilt free to live out his hea. As for the ending, it left me completely underwhelmed....more

Sammy Jo Knox only wants one thing out of life and it’s to leave her small town of Moulton, Alabama and see the world. Oddly, she has zero aspirations like a career that would pay for this dream or even a talent to rely on. I think the author should have given her a singing or photography talent just something other than her good looks and country kindness. She has big dreams of not getting stuck in this town but really zero plans on how to achieve this goal and so she falls for charms and job offer of Mr. Expensive a.k.a Hale Christopher Jude III.
Sometimes things that are too good to be true are exactly that. Naïve Sammy eagerly takes a housekeeper position for Hale in Manhattan and Hale is a bit of a confusing character. He’s sending all sorts of mixed signals to country girl Sammy now known as Samantha. Is she to be more than his housekeeper? What are his plans for her?
There is a security guard of Hale’s named Eriza who has sparked Sammy attention as well. The story does end on a cliff and Sammy Jo should have listened to her mama’s sage advice from the get go:
”You can’t pick a man because of his address. Love happens or it don’t. Men with that kind of money love their way of life, love buying what they want, not necessarily what they need.”
Overall, this was a very short read that the first portion set in Alabama just felt too silly southern for me. Still, I liked the story enough to read on.
Sammy Jo Knox is now living her dream in Manhattan all on Hale’s dime. He’s a very confusing boss at times it seems he expects more f3.5 STARS

Sammy Jo Knox is now living her dream in Manhattan all on Hale’s dime. He’s a very confusing boss at times it seems he expects more from her and at other times I was even left confused by his expectations. Anyway, she’s getting closer to Ezra who is very taken with her and throws out warnings to her while keeping his personal information very private.
This second installment was very interesting and though I think much more could have been done with Sammy and Hale’s interactions I enjoyed a big surprise that the author delivers.
This is a good installment and once again I wish it was longer and more in depth. I’m excited to see what is to come in the next book. There is another book one right?
This final book in the series starts with a shocking scenario as Pagan Moore’s memories of Leif, Dank, Gee hav”I need you to remember me.”

This final book in the series starts with a shocking scenario as Pagan Moore’s memories of Leif, Dank, Gee have all been wiped clean. For Dank to truly have her, she must choose him while her high school boyfriend of three years (her soulmate) is brought back into the picture as she and Miranda attend their first year of Boone University. The story is told in alternating POVS of Pagan and Dank and was an exciting quick read.
”When a soul is created, so is its mate. In every lifetime those souls find each other. They complete the other’s destiny. It’s time for Pagan’s soul to choose if she truly wants an eternity at Death’s side or if she wants the mate created just for her.”
The story was well done, still, I’m left feeling that Leif wasn’t that bad and questioned her weird vibes from an entity that was there throughout her childhood when she needed someone the most.
Jay Potts is in a fraternity and has been living the manwhore lifestyle as he is in his sophomore year at a nearby college. Dank competing against Jay for Pagan’s love was very interesting. Miranda’s love life takes a positive turn in this final book as does Pagan’s future.
”Death can’t help what fate decides.”
Overall, this final book wraps up the story well although a bit too quickly, and I was left still feeling a bit bad for Leif. Pagan’s future is decided by the powers that be and the series ends on a positive note.
"I knew then that I had never understood what humans called love. But that if it was anything close to the power Pagan held over me, then no wonder they searched for it so passionately."...more

”What is one dark spirit up against Death?”
After finishing book one of this series and that terrific cliffhanger I immediately jumped into this book. This second installment in the series left me wondering if Abbi purposely missed the “evil mark” with Leif or is it to come in the final book or does he really have a shot?
"You were promised to me. My father's power healed you and in return your mother promised your soul to me."
The story takes a few heartstopping turns (poor Miranda and Wyatt!!) and visit to a pretty creepy underwold run by the Voodoo spirit lord. Leif’s people come into play and a deal that Pagan’s mother made a long time ago. This deal is now being collected on and Dank (Death) plans on fighting and winning.
”Because Pagan Moore was mine. Her life, her soul, her heart it was all mine. Nothing was going to stand in my way. No ancient curse. No soulless boy. And absolutely no Voodoo spirit Lord.” ...more

Being an Abbi Glines fan, I realized that I have read all her books but this series. Who isn’t interested in seeing what Abbi can do with a paranormal storyline? Going in, I thought I was getting another gorgeous teen girl in cut off shorts and tiny tops with a bunch of issues falling for some sort of para entity, but Abbi Glines surprised me!
Pagan Moore is a great heroine, nothing like the heroines in her other books and the storyline while based in her senior year of high school was totally not predictable!
Pagan can see lost souls bumping around our world but she can't talk to them. She doesn’t cross them over, she just pretends she doesn’t see anything because there’s nothing for her to do for them. Until the day that a hot guy soul actually speaks to her and the Harbor High’s star quarterback asks for her help with his speech class.
Pagan finds herself drawn to Dank Walker and things get even crazier when he makes his presence known at school and it turns out he’s a rock star??
”I can’t tell you what I am. I’ve broken enough rules already.”
There’s action and the good type of drama as Pagan struggles with her feelings for Dank and her safe relationship with sweet Leif.
”Why couldn’t I love him instead?”
What a dilmena! The story does end with an AWESOME cliffhanger and so this reader is onto the next book with great anticipation as to what is to come for this well constructed love triangle of SOULS!!
”I’m not a man so I do not have a heart that loves as a human does. I’m an immortal god that dwells with supreme power because I hold the keys to death. But you are my existence. I am yours.”
I’m so glad I gave this book a go because friends ratings are everywhere from one star to five star reviews. The ending has me ignoring today's new releases and jumping right into book two! ...more

Wait it’s over? Why did this story end so abruptly and will this couple have a book two?
Seriously other than the Lawson family drama-rama which was a tad on the ridiculous side as the reveals just kept coming, I actually REALLY liked this story. I thought the story flowed well but I must stress as with the prior book in this series I was rushed out of so many scenes that I felt so much more could be written. I loved Willa a ton and her backstory was truly heartbreaking. This love triangle with her two former childhood best friends when she returns to town was totally kick ass.
”She’d given me hope. I hadn’t realized I had none until her.”
"Kissing Brady had been nice. Kissing Gunner had rocked my world.”
The excitement of who will be the right guy for Willa between Brady and Gunner was intense and I read this book in one sitting. However so much is left unanswered and explored…
[image]
So I’m resorting to withholding the 5th Star hostage until my demands are met:
Write a book two PLEASE which is expanded in parts to give the school small town feel. I mean one teaser has couple on football field and Willa didn’t even get a darn jersey to wear or to go to school as his girlfriend for goodness sakes! Answer all the under answered questions and NOT with a few pages I want them to have memorable moments as a couple. What happened with the other relationship with Ivy? Who the hell is Willa’s father? Homeschooling…really Nonna. I want special swoon moments between these two as a damn couple.
Overall, I found this to be a very entertaining young story that has a ton of potential for more. It also doesn’t hurt that my pick in the love triangle was the victor of Willa’s heart!

I have been super excited to get my hands on this book and to my surprise it wasn’t what I have envisioned when you talk about Friday night field parties with hot high school football players falling in love. This story had an overall very somber vibe as both the hero and the heroine face loss within their families. West clings to his best friend’s cousin, Maggie the girl who doesn’t talk since the loss of her parents as he faces the impendent death of his hero, his father.
West was the typical manwhore using girls and sex to numb his current situation but he finds an anchor in Maggie and insists they be friends. Maggie falls for West but worries she is just is crutch helping in through his loss and not the love she dreams of finding but something unhealthy for both of them.
I was there for you when you needed someone. And maybe I’ve become more of a crutch for you. You get angry if anyone gets near me or speaks to me, and that’s not normal. It’s unhealthy. I’ve never given you a reason to be possessive. This thing between us can’t work if you hover over me like a madman.”
Lawton High has your typical “slutty” girls and Maggie is deemed from the start as something more, something beautiful, as all of Brady’s friends are very taken with his cousin. I mean how hard is it to write another nice girl in this whole school building to make friends with? The story gifted a big cast of hot football players and I’m interested in continuing with the series and hoping Nash is the recipient of the next book!
”I had always been told my future was on the field and I could be somebody great. And I had wanted that. Until I found somebody who needed me. And I realized the only person I wanted to be great for was her.” ...more
I think fans will expect some big type of redemption and/or an aha moment to connect with Nan,4 STARS
”I was expendable. I always had been.”

I think fans will expect some big type of redemption and/or an aha moment to connect with Nan, the evil villain of Rosemary Beach. You know like with Kiro’s story? Something to make us like her and connect and maybe even forgive her for her past bitchery? Well, sadly the answer to the question as to whether or not Nan redeems herself in her book is…
[image]
However, the story was exciting, sexy, and drama filled. Abbi gifts two hero’s povs along with Nan’s and for me this made for a fun read.
I loved the way Major was attempting to play Nan for information about a dangerous former lover of hers but especially loved the way alpha Cope pulled all the strings.
Nan may not have redeemed herself in this story but she sure does find love and friends her man is yummy.
”I wanted to be the one with you. Not him. I pushed him to get close to you, all the while terrified he would.”
So it’s a no on accomplishing the redemption of Nan. I didn’t love nor forgive her because the author didn’t try for that in my opinion at all. She didn’t act regretful or try to connect with those she wronged beyond civility. Yet, I didn’t want a bus to hit her during the story and did enjoy what the author did give me.
The author instead dumped the heroine in a middle of danger and suspense which included a sexy mystery man in Vegas, an amusing pretty boy, and finally finding someone who will love the terror of Rosemary Beach flaws at all.
The story is short in page numbers which was pretty shocking since at book number 13 there’s a large assortment of characters to have had at least one of them become more than civil with Nan. I think if you set your hopes at a mediocre level as a fan you won’t hate the story but honestly I wouldn’t imagine you running out and purchasing a Nan Lover Shirt a Cope one YESSS.

”My feelings for her had never changed.”
To be honest, I had Major mixed up with Captain the whole time I was reading this one. I thought that this hero was from the farm and slept with his dad’s wife.
Thanks to Christy Baldwin (the reader with the super memory) who explained to me the errors of my ways…
"Mase and Major are cousins. And Mase and Harlow are brother and sister. Blaire and Captain have the same dad but he was adopted. Yes. Major is Mace's cousin (by marriage- Mace's stepdad is Majors uncle) and Nan is Mace's half sister. It's a right clusterfuck in Rosemary Beach!!! Captain was on the boat. Blaires brother."
So you can see, how I could have gotten things mixed up…
[image]
As for the story of Captain and Addy, I actually enjoyed this one even with the hittman reveals and connections to Reese’s mob father. The story is on the short side and ended pretty quickly perhaps there will be more on this couple?
Captain is off his boat (turns out not from the farm- like I thought haha) and he’s setting up a restaurant in Rosemary Beach. He hires a redhead with glasses who he finds out is a single mom to the staff. The more time he’s around her little things start to stir his buried memories of his Addy. Addy was the love of his life who held his heart and had died ten years ago…or so he thought.
Addy is in disguise working for River/Captain trying to see what kind of man he has become before she introduces her daughter to him. She has been looking for him and is a bit put off by the man she’s found.
When Addy’s identity is revealed, Captain’s your typical man whore in love with only one woman and comes clean about the past ten years.
”She was a distraction. They’ve all been a distraction. There’ve been hundreds- I won’t lie to you.”
Regardless of the same old man whore stuff, I actually liked their story. I enjoyed the restaurant scenes, found the mob stuff odd for this author, but overall this is an okay-to-good read. Addy found her River and they are pretty wonderful together.
A short but enjoyable read that leads way for Nan’s book but it appears that we’ll have a Dean Finlay book releasing in February 2016 first!
