Maybe this would have been better if I didn't know the 1944 film so well. The movie covers the story very thoroughly. Still, I totally enjoyed reading this. I found this copy at a thrift store in California. It's from 1942 and it still has its dust jacket! Amazing (it is a book club edition, and the cover is faded in parts...still pretty cool).

As much as I am pro Vera Caspary, I guess it is good that people who work in thrift stores usually do not know who she is.
That's how I got my first edition copy of Light in August for $2
Funny that they wouldn't know who Faulkner is, but they probably don't and who cares anyway. There's more important things to know. I haven't read that. I read the Sound and the Fury twice, but in my early twenties. I remember liking it.
