it was amazing
bookshelves: published-2015, historical-fiction, chunkster, read-2015, series, cultural-brazil

When I began reading The Seven Sisters I had no idea it was to be part of a series.....which is good....and bad.

This first book is not the story of seven sisters, but just one of six adopted female babies who grow up as privileged children (named for constellations) at an amazing island home in Switzerland called Atlantis......and when Pa Salt dies, each of the six grown women are given a private letter with a secret clue to their past.

Maia, an astoundingly beautiful interpreter, who translates books for authors is the oldest sister and the first to return to her roots to investigate her beginnings.....and what an excellent story she has.....I truly did not want to put it down.....and the ending......What?!?!?!?.....surprise! surprise!

Anyway, all I can say is that this wonderful work of fictional romance has so much substance and interesting bits of past history that you won't want to stop reading, and although parts of the romantic interlude(s) were somewhat predictable, I was never bored.....but the worst part of it all.....seriously.....is waiting for Book 2! I want to read it now!!!

Kaye Acosta Summarizes my thoughts exactly. I fell in love with Maia and with Rio- but now I have too many unanswered questions!!!! Who knows how long we'll have to wait for the next book!

Yvette LeLievre Who was on the phone and who was the father and how he got to adopt those 6 sisters?

Cynia I had asked Lucinda Riley when the next book will be out and if we had to wait 6 years for the whole series, and here is her answer:

Lucinda Riley Hi Cynia, Thanks for your question. I'm so pleased you enjoyed 'The Seven Sisters'.
Book 2 - The Storm Sister - will be published this November in UK, Commonwealth, Germany and Brazil, Italy and Norway in January, France, USA and Canada in May and then Greece in June.
I am now half way through the third book which is about the sister Star.
Unfortunately I can only physically write one of the 'Sister's' books a year as I'm also working on other projects.
Many thanks again, Lucinda X

Dawn Gilmore This was the first book I read of hers and finished it this weekend at our hunting camp...I LOVED IT!!!!!! I was shocked at the possible person on the other end of the phone line also...I kinda wondered about the possibility of it as I was reading the whole book. I love to read a book that makes me feel like I am in it as I read it...that is one reason I have always enjoyed Kate Morton 's books. Now Lucinda Riley, you are in my favorite authors catagory like Kate for making me feel like I was truly a part of this story as I read it. I was all excited when I saw the second one comes out in November but now sad because I live in the United States and it won't be here til May

Oh no....I thought it was out in the U.S. in November too. :-(

Linda Austin Can anyone remember the name of the boy Isobella found. I seem to remember it was said just once by the father who took him in but I can’t find it in the book.

message 24: by Anna (new) - rated it 4 stars

Anna In her Acknowledgments section at the end of the book, the author refers to "the very first anagram -" Pa Salt". What is it an anagram for? Is it a clue to his identity?

message 25: by Anna (new) - rated it 4 stars

Anna Interesting info here about the names and anagrams in the book. http://lucindariley.co.uk/sisters-and...

Cynia I have read the first two books and am collecting the next 5 or 4 in the series. Then I can read them one after another without waiting a year in between each book.

Megan E Thanks to your great review Carol, I discovered this series and author Lucinda Riley for the first time. The book was everything you raved about and more. Riley has a new fan thanks to your review/introduction.
