I wanted to love this book so bad. I really did.
Reading this book definitely wasn't easy. So many times i didn't know what the hell was going on. Most of the time I was confused or frustrated, and many times I thought about giving up. If this wasn't a library book, I would definitely put it down, and read it again when I'm in a mood for reading this kind of book.
The book is written in 'short stories' form, and I think that was my problem with it. I got bored at beginning of each story, and as soon as things got interesting, the story would end. Only story I enjoyed from start to finish, was Sol's story. I think he and Rachel were the only characters I got attached to. I didn't care what would happen to others.
And one of the reasons that I didn't give up reading is that I hoped we would get at least some answers at the end. But nope. It ended on a cliffhanger and not a single answer was given... Did I mention how much I hate cliffhangers? 'Cause I do.
For now, I don't think I'll be continuing on with the series. Maybe some time in the future I'll decide to give it a second shot, and hopefully, I'll like it more than I do now.

Thanks :)
You should definitely give it a try. This just wasn't my cup of tea. Maybe you'll enjoy it way better than i did :)

I agree and thanks for posting this review.
IMHO - It does break up the flow (and enjoyment) when the plot arc is broken up into separate short stories while the framing storyline leaves many of us feeling like we have to read another book to finish the one we are holding. But then that's just one reader's opinion...

Great review!
I completely agree. He should've ended their journey in this book (I was thinking that would happen). That's why I was so disappointed when I finished it.
And thanks :)
And thanks :)
Pročitaj i drugi dio.

This is exactly right, "I got bored at beginning of each story, and as soon as things got interesting, the story would end."
They could have been half as long without any harm to the novel. It is funny though, I thought the Sol story might have been the most tedious. I mean how many pages do we need to read to get it that his daughter is aging backwards and its hard on him and his wife?

My thoughts exactly. Though I cannot say I totally disliked it, and I still plan to read at least the second book, but in terms of anticipation and desire to love the book, Hyperion is easily one of my biggest reading dissapointments ever. Totally agree about the Sol's story - probably the main reason I didn't give up reading.
You conveyed my concluding opinion of this book perfectly. It was such a disappointed overall, but with some very high points. I also will not continue with the series.
I had a ridiculous time reading this book as well. I put it down for a few months once I made it to the halfway point. It gets less confusing near the end. The ‘don’t know what the hell is going on’ is intentional because nobody in the book really knows what is really going on. As frustrating as it is the story gets a lot easier to read after the first book. If book one was a chore for you book two will definitely make up for it. Don’t try to understand anything strange and you’re golden. You’ll understand what the author needs you to
I’m glad I’m not the only one confused while reading it. I’m halfway through right now and the book is just making me feel stupid.
