Set in the city of Houston, TX, FBI special agent Bethany Sanchez moves from the civil rights division of the agency to violent crimes and meets her new partner Thatcher Graves while at the scene of a murder by a serial killer. Bethany is also receiving threats from her brother who is newly released from a prison cell due to her testimony against him. Bethany is a strong advocate against domestic violence and she's convinced the husband is the killer. However, more bodies turn up with the same signature of a Scorpion and Bethany is forced to reconsider her views of the killer. Bethany and Thatcher have completely opposite ways of looking at cases but they must use both their talents if they are to solve this case and come out with their lives.

I've never read a book by Diann Mills before, but I liked this one. I'll be going back to read others by this author.
