it was ok

I like to come back to books I've read years ago and give you the real tea so here it is...

Reading this books as a grown ass woman was an interesting experience. As a kid, I would always pick the biggest fantasy book I could find in a store because it meant more to read. As an adult, I realized that so many popular YA books are fluffy just for the sake of it.

The writing isn't that great nor are the characters, I found it very "info dumpy", also, I don't care for love triangles and really resent them when they involve a "friend zone boy friend".

If you've read this as a teenager, you'll have a much better time than I did.

Fifi Me reading this with my 5 star review 👁️👄👁️

Kendra same the sibling thing just ruined it for me idk

Carolina same girl

Surta Dave I hated the incest thing buttttt reading it knowing it was meant to be read by 12 year olds I still liked it and lots of interesting things happened! — MINUS the incest again!!! Eventually my interest in the series still fizzled out

Aleksandra I couldn’t agree more. I’ve read almost whole series (actually 2 series) when I was teenager and LOVED it, but this year I tried to reread it and… I was so bored and felt cringe everywhere so 🤷🏼‍♀️ also these cute romance scenes which were melting my heart that time now are 🤮 for me… sorry not sorry

Marie -The Reading Otter I first read this series when I was about 24, and it was one of the books that got me back into reading as an adult. I read the two main series, the two Novella bind-ups, and one from the third series but haven't continued.
One thing that can be said about her books is that she maintains continuity. The books aren't released in a linear timeline and events line up.

Letterrausch I actually binged it on the second try (after watching the show, which is also very guilty-pleasure-y), but the whole incest storyline is so forced from beginning to end it's actually painful.

I only watched season one of the show. It was bad, really bad acting, and the showrunners took what I'd call average writing in the books, and made it more melodramatic.

Letterrausch Oh no! It gets massively better in the second and especially in the third season. But the incest stays a plot-point, unfortunately.

Zoé cassandra clare's writing is so poor and dull, I really don't get the hype

Lucie I went back to this series a few years ago as I really need to finish the series, but I didn't get through the first 100 pages of the fourth book because it was so bloody stupid.

luna this series got me into reading when i was 12, but rereading it when i was 17 made me cringe at how every guy in clary’s life acted like he was entitled to dating her. i loved the love interests in cassie clare’s second series, but the two most recent ones are also yikes imo 😔

low.light.reads I constantly said that this series was my twilight: I loved it in middle school and was what got me into reading, but if I ever reread it I guess that I would find so many problems and hate it so that the reason I would never ever read it again. 🥲😅

Joshua I could not get more than half way through this book. I do want to try her more recent series but we'll see. I know the 2nd book is on the YA Fantasy/Scifi Good Reads Choice awards and I've made it my punishment to read them all so we'll see!

ale same. read it as a teen, loved it. tried rereading it when older, realized it sucks.

Sabrina read this as a teenager and enjoyed it, but I better not read it as an adult because I am very much aware of the cringey plot devices and tropes

Elina Bergqvist I also read this as a teen, and I loved it until the twist at the end which made me not want to continue the serie. Never read the second or any other of her books.

Brenna Even as a teen I hated this book. I read the second one just because everyone was raving about it and it still sucked so I never continued lol

Rosenblue(promoting non-bias reviews & a dislike button on GR) Even as a teenager I knew this book was trash written for creepy horny women, don't underestimate a teenager ability to know what good writing is.

Rosenblue(promoting non-bias reviews & a dislike button on GR) Don't worry she has a brief "romance" with her real brother in book 3 because the writer has a thing for incest between teens.
