Stacy Reid is a favorite author of mine but I'm still unsure on how I feel about Her Wicked Marquess. My attention was not held and the story did not seem to really get going until the 40% mark. I also thought this was an odd follow up to My Darling Duke, it was much darker and didn't seem to quite fit in with what I thought this series would be like.
The heroine was underdeveloped and inconsistent, it made it difficult for me to get connect with her. Maryann fell flat. Nicolas, on the other hand was perfect, his pursuit of Maryann and conviction to bring justice to those who wrong a previous love was written flawlessly. The sex scenes in this were HOT! While not a complete disappointment it is far from a favorite or reread.
Just a minor complaint, I hate when a cover does not match the author's description of a character: The cover model is blonde however in the book "His raven hair was
impeccably styled, curling softly at his nape."

Its a large part of the story and I haven't seen many reviews talking about it.

Thank you for this. Maryann is driving me freaking bonkers. She has this plan and completely chickens out... it is so annoying! Grrrr
Oh I’m am so with you about the cover! I read his hair is dark and had to look at the cover, then reread the passage describing him. And I did it repeatedly because I couldn’t get around it.
It happens again in the 3rd book with her having “jet black hair” but the cover showing blonde. Okay she wears a “silvery blonde wig” as a disguise but why give her honey covered hair on the cover?!?
