Ha! Thank you. I wanted to like it--she's written two of my favorite books--but just could not.
And I'm still a liar. It wasn't really even "ok."

Its even funnier because I read your other review of this first.

Ooops, didn't realize I had a duplicate. Well, the first was when I was trying to be optimistic and positive. But I struggled so much to finish it, it really was a lie.

See I thought you did it on purpose to call yourself a liar, lol.

This is gonna sound crazy (because I also feel the same way you do about this book), but
All Clear
– which isn't even a sequel but rather just part two – is an entirely different book. It's actually excellent, with most of the hideously annoying problems of Blackout unrepeated. Really weird, but there it is!
That is interesting, Shelli. I never went on to part II because this was such a struggle. Glad you enjoyed the second half!
I agree about this one, it dragged a lot and definitely needed more editing. I'm trying to remember if I thought All Clear was better, I think so, I don't remember it being as draggy as this one. Not up to the same level of "The Doomsday Book" or "To Say Nothing Of The Dog" though.

Me too! It's one of the books I often recommend to friends. And those that take me up on it have liked it too. :D
I really liked Doomsday Book too, but it's very different and I don't really have any desire to re-read it. I've read TSNotD three times so far.
