First off, Ishmael is a jerk.
Second; Olaf didn’t burn down the Baudelaire mansion??
Third; I thought the Quagmire triplets’ fate was more definite although things certainly didn’t sound good - which I’m not fond of.
I like how Chapter Fourteen shows that even though the Baudelaire's childhood was cut short, they were able to provide a good one for Kit Snicket's child.
With this reread I’ve come to the conclusion that...I like the Netflix series more.
While the books are good, I prefer the lighter tone of the show. The books could get quite dark and repetitive while the show was able to alleviate that, especially with Barney Stin….I mean, Neil Patrick Harris.
Plus I think the satirical nature of the story came across more easily in the show.
Side note: The song at the end (of the audiobook) starts off sweet but then it gets like, really weird…

"That last chapter made it feel like even though they can’t be together, the Baudelaire's were connected with their parents again...a connection that saved the children's lives!

Not sure how I feel about Olaf and Kit.
I know we hardly get any info on any of the adults but this seems REALLY out of the blue.
Finally the Baudelaire's no longer have to worry about villains and treachery. They are taking care of each other...plus the addition to their family."

"You can’t live forever hiding from the terrors and tragedies of life.
The Baudelaire’s learn that and many other things from their parent’s entries.
This was a satisfying ending (in the way that anything could be satisfying in this series) but the closure we get in the show is still my favourite.
There’s just something about Lemony getting his own story ‘end and beginning’ that felt right."

So disappointing the Quagmires and their flying mobile house.never showed up again. I missed them so much <3. Will watch the movie and series soon. Happy to know they have a brighter tone. Great review Sophia!
