This is my second book by Christina Henry and it was a treat. Growing up, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow was a part of my yearly Halloween experience. So when I saw The Horseman, I knew it had to be on my October reading list.

The Horseman takes place twenty years after that fateful night, when Ichabod Crane vanished. The main character is Ben, a charming and headstrong teenage boy. He is also the grandson of Brom Bones and had heard the stories of the Headless Horseman from Brom himself.

Trouble begins when a dead body is found. And then another. Soon the legends that the town is known for feel too close for comfort. Is the Headless Horseman on the prowl again?

I really enjoyed this. Ben struggles to fit in and find acceptance. Among his own struggles, he finds himself in the middle of a mystery that could unravel everything he knows to be true. His strength and courage are what made this book, in my opinion. It was also fun to see Brom and Katrina again, later in life. They seemed pretty true to character to me.

This book is perfect for Halloween. It was a spooky and nostalgic reading experience.
