''She and her assistant, Caz, a sentient spider plant..''
Ok. Sold.

Wish I had enjoyed this more but, sadly, I felt like nothing was happening. I get that's part of the cozy fantasy genre but it doesn't mean I have to like it. I think I would enjoy a story like this more as a movie, cause it was more vibes than anything.
Also, there were winged kittens. If I could see those on screen, I would care less about the lack of plot.

Susan Baker Exact same thing happened to me lol

Ursula You had me at sentient spider plant.

Katherine I, too, love books and talk to my houseplants as if they're my child. Most relatable book ever.

Embodying Mystical Mac If you want a cozy fantasy with more stakes check out The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches or House in the Cerulean Sea ❤️

Tiana Marks I agree that it would be a great movie!

Melissa I felt like the stakes in this were actually higher than I expected!! Compared with other cosy fantasies I've read. I loved it

Kate I'm experiencing the nothing happens phase.

Areeba | Bookaddicted_soul For this book, nothing happening is quite accurate! But I've read other cozy fantasy books where a lot happens and they still remain cozy ✨

Shari Almost DNF’d but then halfway through it really got going and I flew through the last half! Glad I kept going!

Mary Rose I really enjoyed it. I thought it built this world up in the beginning of the book so it didn’t seem boring. I mostly went to visit that island

SleepyHog Bro, did you not read the last few chapters where the author decided to cram in all the action? I loved it when “nothing was happening”. But also. The author failed to develop her relationship with Larran, so when they were getting together it felt so out of pocket lol
