This book had a heavier feel to it than I expected.
Lark is an oncology resident flunking out of her program because she can’t stop crying for her patients. She’s quickly relocated to Emergency medicine. Fix em and move em out. No time for tears!
Her only way back into her coveted oncology position is if renowned surgeon Dr. Santini puts in a good word for her. All she needs to do is pretend to be his girlfriend through the summer and attend his sister’s wedding.
Ultimately, with the goal of convincing his dying grandmother he won’t be alone. Nothing more, just a few dinners. Sounds easy enough, right?! But there’s a good reason everyone refers to him as Dr. Satan!
Well this premise sounded sweet enough. A nice, contemporary novel to give me a break from all my thrillers. But then…
There was so much sadness radiating off of EVERY character in this book (except maybe Connery, the dog.) I believe every reader will find something triggering. I know I did.
So, reader beware.

Great review Kaceey! The cover is kind of deceiving - it looks light & summery. I have to really be in the mood for this type of book - I’ll pass for now! ❤️

Wouldn't have expected a novel with such a title and cover to be full of sadness! Thanks for the clear warning with your wonderful honest review, Kaceey! ❤️ They should make the content triggers clear right at the start. Good to know the dog gets a happier track.

I know that many contemporary (and I’m coms) go deeper these days and include heavier themes which I think helps the read become more realistic. But every single character? It was overwhelming!🩷
