Blackout (All Clear, #1)

These books stress me out so badly. Everyone is forever running around interrupting each other & talking over one another & no one knows what the hell is going on & no one knows where Mr. Dunworthy is - ever - goddammit, & then they head back in time anyway & of course everything is all f'ed up. B swears that All Clear is really good & I adore reading about the Blitz, but I swear, if there's anymore standing around in a department stores chatting about what we've all been Up To while bombs are falling & you know that the store is going to be hit & totally destroyed any minute now, I am not going to be very pleased.

This reminds me of how much I utterly despised this book.

Haha, I think the only thing that you didn't include in your review was all the incessant, chaotic interrupting of every conversation that anyone ever had. I didn't quite despise this as much as you did, but I totally understand where you're coming from.

I've had this book on my shelf for years - a gift from a dear friend - and I kept meaning to look it up to see how it ranked among trusted folks' reads. I'm not altogether sure how soon I'll be proceeding to the next phase (Actually Opening It) now...!

It's really not her best. You could maybe try The Doomsday Book instead; it's got a lot of the same problems that stressed me out in this one, but it also has the Black Plague, so I feel like it evened out.
