Nancy | 2838 comments We're now accepting nominations for January - February.

Please read the rules for nominating BEFORE you create your post!! And check our bookshelves to be sure you are not nominating something we have already read as a group!

Only ONE nomination per person.

Please be sure to post the title and author.

Authors may not nominate their own books. If you are an author and wish to be featured as Author of the Month, please send me a message.

Please add your selections here. Once we get a sufficient number of titles, I will start up a poll. Each person may choose one title.

Remember, the authors should be gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered, or feature significant gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered characters in their work. Queer can be interpreted as broadly as we like.

Any genre (SF/fantasy, horror, romance, mystery), non-fiction, and classics are acceptable. Based on this criteria, we should have plenty of books to choose from. If you are nominating a title that is part of a series, please make sure to nominate the first book, unless we have already read it as a group.

The book discussion will start January 1 and continue through the end of February. This should give everyone sufficient time to obtain and read the book.

Here's my nomination:

"Nightwood", by Djuna Barnes

I've been wanting to read this one for a long time, and thought it might appeal to the group.

I looked all the way through the group's "read" shelf and didn't see this one. I think it'd be a good one; Barnes was one of the pre-eminent lesbians of her time. Thanks!

That sounds fascinating, Nancy. I'll nominate the one you reminded me I had unread on my shelves: The Folding Star
by Alan Hollinghurst. IMO, the elegance of his language make him a joy to read.

It was I who posted the "Nightwood" nomination; is that the one you thought fascinating? And great that you're nominating the one by Hollinghurst! Excellent, Kernos!! Thanks so much!

Nancy | 2838 comments Kernos, you are nominating Hollinghurst and Ellen is nominating Nightwood. Is that correct?

I'd like to nominate Rat Bohemia by Sarah Schulman.

Cassie (CassieWinters) | 0 comments has the group read Shine by Lauren Myracle yet? If not I would love to nominate that for a group read. If you haven't heard about this book it was accidentally nominated for an award but the author took it down. The book has a huge LGBT focus.

Nancy | 2838 comments Hi Eric, I've already set up the poll for the January/February group read. Feel free to nominate it again for March/April.

It's funny you mentioned this book. Just moments ago I picked it up at the library. I can't remember now where I'd seen it mentioned.

Cassie (CassieWinters) | 0 comments Darn welp I will be sure to nominate it for March/April then hehe. I plan on purchasing it soon actually cause I have been hearing a lot about it. Thanks for letting me know.

Cassie (CassieWinters) | 0 comments Yes that is that book Mike... One of the main reasons that I wanted to read it. It was "accidently" nominated for the award. The award group donated some money to a prominent organization out of respect, since the subject matter was LGBT focused on a hate crime and LGBT individuals.
