"A one-night stand that didn't want to let go."
Alexis looked over the sea of people, trying to find the woman. "There seems to be a lot of those."
"Too late to change my past now, but if I could, I would."
Alexis gave him a disbelieving smirk. "Are you saying, if you could have changed things, you would've waited for me?"
He gave her his wicked grin. "I'm saying I would have found you sooner.”

whispered but it was an accusation.
His eyes closed and the pain in them swept
over his entire face and settled there like it would
never, ever leave.
Then he shocked her again. He dropped his
forehead to hers and kept his hands on her.
Something out of her control made her continue.
“You told me,” she said in a shaky voice,
“you’d always take care of me.”
He opened his eyes and stared into hers. He
was so close that if she moved the lower half of
her face forward, less than an inch, she would
have been kissing him.
“You didn’t take care of me,” she murmured,

Random recollection - I was in pilates last night and don't know why but the mini-putt golf date scene from This Thing of Ours popped in my head and I couldn't stop smiling. I think that's an indication of a good story when I recall pieces of it that I enjoyed.

LOL two years is a long time to be upset.
But I can understand why else do you think I'm so picky. Luckily I've never had that happen to me, the H or h dying off, I imagine I'd be sucker-punched and then crying buckets. has a Notebook type ending and I don't even have to read it, I just have to think of it and in a few seconds I'm bawling my eyes out:)!
But I'll make a note to stay away from that book you mentioned!

I think that will be okay if he truly grovels and h doesn't let him off the hook too easily lol. One more thing I can't have a H or h die (but that really goes with the HEA aspect of a story) I read a book (When it Rains by Lisa Dejong) had no idea the H dies OMG, two years later I am still trying to get over it! Also you might want to know this about , the book I recced to you, the other one is completely safe.

Cheating is a big no-no for me. I will stop reading if that happens I don't care what the circumstances are. And I think kissing is cheating.
Hate love triangles. I want my H and h devoted to only each other. If they don't get that, they are not in love.
Must have a HEA (okay if reading a 2 or 3 part that will have one at it's end).
Those are the biggies. As you can see from my shelves I don't read a lot of MC books for the reasons stated above (just can't take the chance one of those things will slip in)

So you do get it then.
Yep recommends from friends are the best cos you can ask then for spoilers and other stuff and you do get an idea of their taste too.
So what would you say are your to-be-avoided triggers, things that make your stomach hurt or just upset while coming across them in a romance?

Well, I'm a picky reader what can I say, don't like misogynistic stuff and am kinda sensitive to the power equations between H/h, which sets off all sorts of alarms for me in romances. I've just learnt to navigate and avoid what sets me off, so i'm not apologising for that.
However I don't think I'm an arrogant reader and a well written book always has a place in my bookshelves, and from what I heard Alluring is well reviewed so I'll be giving it a try if you don't mind;)
