This would have been a 4 star if not for the end. There is no end. This is not a book but a segway into the next volume. There is no conclusion. In fact it effectively stops mid-chapter and mid-scene. I don't mind some cliffhangers for a sequel but literally nothing is resolved.

Just finished this book two and book one. Like the first book and review, this is a smart stylish spy-thriller with echoes of the contemporary Slough House series first book Slow Horses by Mick Herron . Of course it also has links to other older school spy thrillers from the likes of Deighton Len or John le Carré
