I have truly mixed feelings about this one, I was hoping for some answers but much like the gladers or the girls from group B, I got nothing. I swear, I only want to keep reading this series because of all the built up tension, suspense, deception, and false hope assigned. It certainly didn't have the same vibe as the first book and Dashner seems to be running out of ideas in this one with many chapters being much the same save for the introducti I have truly mixed feelings about this one, I was hoping for some answers but much like the gladers or the girls from group B, I got nothing. It certainly didn't have the same vibe as the first book and Dashner seems to be running out of ideas in this one with many chapters being much the same save for the introduction of new characters. With a series like this one, you can never know who to trust and whether or not anybody is acting of their own volition. There were some very clever twists, such as the betrayal and SPOILER ALERT Aris too being a creator much like Thomas and Teresa.

I still don't understand what purpose Brenda is burdened with but she's definitely a nuisance though she hasn't done anything particularly wrong. Book 3 is the shortest of the original trilogy so it might not take me too long to read depending on whether it's more boring than this one or not, with this being about 40% boring and 15% underwhelming, full of information we were already given in book 1 and with characters from group A explaining the situation to those in group B. Not much could be different, that's why there are the variables lol It's funny to me how the girl team didn't create vocabulary of their own, or perhaps I just didn't pick up on it because it was either subtle or hardly referred to.

Book 2 was quite disappointing, especially having just read book 1 but at the same time not as bad as others make it out to be. You just have to read it quickly for it not to lose its appeal, to still be stuck in the world, not allowing anybody to distract you from the worldbuilding and character development, which I guess with so many characters dying, could have been better. He had plenty of time to improve but Dashner just didn't, much. Minho and Newt are top tier characters and deserve much more attention. Instead, they are just used to fill in the silence or to state the obvious, hardly to lead or direct as they're meant to. The tattoos also don't mean much now do they? I bought this one in Gozo, 2 days ago! I must admit that I don't have a book quite like this one. It's a memoir of a guy who doesn't exist. Paul Rudd is on the cover and yet he's Scott Lang. It's neither fiction nor nonfiction. It's pretty insane. No part of the book indicates that there's another author involved but the author is using Scott Lang as a pen name.
