Australian short track speed skater. He won a bronze medal in the 5000m
relay in the Lillehammer Winter Olympiads in 1994 and was eventually
the first Autralian to win a Gold Medal in Winter Olympiads in Salt
Lake City in 2002 for the 1000m race (followed by Alisa Camplin in the
same Olympic Games) for which he was called "the luckiest gold
medallist". He also won 3 medals in 5000m relay in World Championships
(Gold in 1991, Silver in 1993 and Bronze in 1994). He's also famous for
his race accidents: in 1994 he was impaled on a skate and lost 4 litres
of blood (doctors said he was lucky to survive!) and in 2000 he broke
his neck.
