We received Dutch scientist and director of the NCAR’s Atmospheric Chemistry Observations & Modeling Laboratory, Pieternel Levelt, and OMI Lead in the US at NASA, Joanna Joiner, at the embassy today, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the #AURA satellite launch with the Ozone Monitoring Instrument (#OMI). This Dutch-Finnish-US collaboration leads to collecting data to protect our air and planet. 💨🌍 The OMI, built by Dutch and Finnish experts flying on the US satellite AURA, measures air quality, ozone layer health, and climate change, and sends the essential climate date to scientists all over the globe. 📉🥼🔎 Due to remote sensing satellites like AURA with instruments like OMI, climate insights are precise and can therefore lead to regulation to protect the Earth. Then, over time, these images and data can support us to see what actions are working and where we need to focus additional – international – efforts, highlighted Ambassador Birgitta Tazelaar. Within this program, a mix of industry, research institutions, and government work together with the US on strategic communication alongside networking events, trade missions and the support of (industry) activities in both countries. Next to the trade element of this program, we also nourish knowledge exchange between the Netherlands and the United States as well as knowledge collaboration. 🇳🇱🇺🇸 By embracing international collaboration, we can harness the full potential of new technologies and pave the way for a more #sustainable future with better, more precise and holistic insights of our earth’s atmosphere. Let’s keep solving global challenges together! Marcella Kneppers

🚀 At #QWC2024, we had the honor of hearing from Her Excellency Birgitta Tazelaar, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the United States. 🇳🇱 Ambassador Tazelaar highlighted the Netherlands' leading role in #QuantumTechnology, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in driving innovation. From Quantum Delta NL to international partnerships, the Netherlands is pioneering breakthroughs in quantum computing, communication, and sensing. But more than that, Ambassador Tazelaar reminded us of the purpose behind quantum technology—solving global challenges like healthcare and energy, while fostering inclusivity, particularly through programs like ‘Women in Quantum Development’ (WIQD). 🌍 Her words were inspiring, leaving us with a powerful takeaway: "Together we go further." 🌷 Taste of Europe 🌷 Together with the European agricultural attachés in the United States, we participated in the Taste of Europe event. This evening provided an opportunity to meet with each other whilst experiencing the rich taste of Europe. Or in our case, sight and smell, as we brought tulips! The bulbs are from the Netherlands and are sustainably grown here in Virginia. The event showed how diverse the European member states are, whilst simultaneously being unified. A unification that in the face of 21st century agricultural challenges, is very much needed. Together, we can aspire to share knowledge and solutions for issues such as tackling climate change, food security and crop management – both between European member states, but also with the United States of America. Thanks to everyone who participated in this event!
