Space-Comm Expo Scotland will be the biggest space industry event ever held in Scotland attracting over 3,000 delegates, 70 exhibitors and 100 speakers including Ministers from the UK and Scottish Government, UK Space Agency and European Space Agency. The inaugural event will welcome global leaders, international delegations and industry experts from across government, aerospace, defence, business and academia to explore new frontiers for a new global space economy driven by government and commercial collaboration and rapid advances in technology. There are currently an estimated 10,000 satellites in orbit and 50,000 predicted by 2030. The dynamic growth of the sector is estimated at $1.8 trillion by 2035 by the World Economic Forum.

Ahead of #FIA2024 next week, Elizabeth Seward, our Head of Space Strategy and Market Development, spoke to The Times on growing the UK’s #space sector. With the World Economic Forum forecasting that the space economy will grow to $1.8 trillion by 2035, Elizabeth talks about what’s driving the global ‘new space race’ – access to space is now easier and commercially cheaper and #defence uses are becoming more prevalent. Here in the UK, the space sector has quadrupled in size since 2000. As Elizabeth explains, the nation is now at a tipping point. Collaboration between industry and government is vital to create a ‘joined-up’ view across space, and a national programme will be key to deliver unique capabilities for the UK, as well as build up our expertise and skills. Ensuring Longterm Sustainability of Space and Spectrum Hosted by the Space Data Association and the Satcoms Innovation Group (SIG) 🕰️ 14:35 📆 7th November 2024 📍 London, UK   The SDA and Satcoms Innovation Group will co-host a discussion surrounding the importance of protecting space and spectrum. As the amount of objects in orbit continues to rise, space is becoming increasingly congested and contested. Ensuring longterm sustainability means ensuring both safety of flight and continued and protected use of spectrum. This session will explore the tools and processes already in place, as well as asking what more commercial and military operators need to do to ensure longterm sustainability in an increasingly complex environment.
