Per ITIL: "key roles and responsibilities within ITIL change management, including the change manager, change advisory board, change initiator, change implementer, change owner, and impacted parties." Who manages change for a product? The Product Management and Product Owner team/function/role. Hopefully using a well designed, disciplined, and defined product management system. Do we need Change Advisory Boards? Only when complexity and scale justifies the overhead and the hit to flow in waste. In most cases, no, put the decision making where the information is and trust your people. Intent based leadership... Change initiator? - anyone can initiate a request for change. What happens to the request depends on the system. It is common for products to be supported, which is why we need Service Management and Product Management. Triage, curation are necessary to determine priority, severity, type. Change Owner - who owns the product? Impacted Parties - Customer Centricity.

Going Wide ↔️ vs Going Deep ↕️ I will try to address this basis my experience. Let's try to break this problem by understanding the current state of the Initiative/Project/Program, is it in - Inception/Planning Phase💭 - Execution Phase📈 - Delivery Phase 👨💻 - Post-production/Support/Improvements/Enhancements 🔁 If your Program is at #Inception Phase it's best to Go-deep↕️ first as you will have to understand the domain first to drive technical conversations, etc. If your Program is in #Execution Phase it's best to go-wide↔️ first as you will have to cover all the stakeholders, dependencies, processes, etc. so that there is no disruption in the existing activities. If your Program is in #Delivery Phase it's best to use your wisdom to decide in which areas to go-deep vs where to go-wide as you might be driving UAT which requires you to have good understanding of the use-cases/domain and at the same time you might be driving stakeholder communication and mitigating risks & dependencies associated to your delivery. If your Program is in #Postprod phase it's best to parallelize both the approaches and maybe prioritise basis the need.
