Documentation of the existing and evolving environment is a key goal. We’re looking for an open, curious person that is willing to roll up their sleeves and do the detailed work but still see the big picture. Overall program management will be handled by its client. However, project success will be determined by agency teams who will be responsible for working through the transition (sometimes) with third party partners which will integrate with. There will be multiple opportunities for complications throughout the process. A program manager who can help identify bottlenecks and look for solutions is necessary. It is expected that the program manager will work primarily remotely. Some in-person meetings may be required. Time-keeping will be necessary. Skills related Questions : Tell me about a successful program you have led Tell me about your management style when directing a team of project managers/vendors and other dependent agencies. How many tasks can your top performers handle at once? Particularly in departments like scheduling, we run into this issue where specialized contributors create these inadvertent bottlenecks. We can't quite replicate the hours of training and specific tools they rely on to complete their tasks, so instead of progressing on new opportunities, we hold until the jam can clear. We have two options in these situations: duplicate the role or adjust the process. Right now, there are over 17,000 scheduler job openings across the United States, each requiring deep technical expertise. So, duplicating roles seems unlikely. But, most organizations have a legion of estimators and project managers who just want to see their project get off the ground. By making those tools more accessible for a lay user, organizations create more room to clear that stoppage and move more projects further. We're all busy. The market is booming, and we're all desperate for talent—but if you can optimize the operating process, even just a little, then you create new opportunities that weren't there before. #DigitalTransformation #CapitalProjects

The transition from Contract Administrator to Project Manager is a significant career move that involves taking on broader responsibilities and a more direct leadership role. As such, you need to inspire and motivate your team, set clear goals, and ensure everyone is working towards common objectives. The following is what’s at the core of effective project management: 1). Lead by example: Demonstrate the work ethic, professionalism, and dedication you expect from your team. 2). Communicate effectively: Initially, more communication is better than less to convey project goals, expectations, and feedback clearly and effectively. 3). Build trust: Foster trust by being transparent, reliable, and supportive. Keep your commitments and be honest with your team. Especially acknowledging when you make a mistake. It’s also important to understand and manage team dynamics to ensure a productive and harmonious working environment by: 1). Recognising individual strengths: Identify the strengths of each team member and assign tasks that leverage these abilities where possible. 2). Promoting collaboration and teamwork: Facilitate regular onsite meetings to discuss progress, outline tasks / responsibilities, and provide updates on milestones and changes (eg. scope or timelines) to keep everyone aligned with project goals. 3). Addressing conflicts promptly: Resolve conflicts swiftly to prevent them from affecting team morale and productivity. And, last but not least, prioritise clear communication: 1). Set clear expectations: Ensure that all team members understand their roles, responsibilities, and the project’s objectives. 2). Provide regular updates: Keep the team informed about project progress, changes, and any issues that arise. 3). Encourage open dialogue: Foster a supportive environment for team communication through regular formal meetings, one-on-one informal meetings, active listening, involving team members in decisions, an ‘open door’ policy, and by encouraging the team to share any concerns. Wild part: you still have to have experience, even with a degree, before you can get your PMP. I’ve seen these reqs for Entry/Junior level Schedulers and wonder who decided these requirements, because they clearly don’t understand what the Pre-Reqs are to even be eligible🤦🏻♀️. https://lnkd.in/gZ6cEBmK
Entry-level Jr. Scheduler positions requiring a bachelor's degree or 5 years of relevant work experience with PMP (a plus!) seem to be popping up everywhere! It's got me curious about who is posting these positions. People need to be able to get their foot in the door somewhere and it not be a mid level scheduler position offering entry level pay.
