I think it is definitely notable but the article is smaller than the HK fishball section on the main article and I doubt there is much more to write about it. The page is likely to remain a stub forever. UKWikiGuy (talk) 23:45, 10 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Why would it remain a stub forever? Many food articles can be expanded once we find sources, and finding sources in languages which are transliterated can be a challenge. I don't think that's a good reason to merge. Valereee (talk) 23:54, 10 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
The Cheung Chau Fishball is a special case of the Hong Kong fishball which is apparently not notable enough to have its own article. Why doesn't the Hong Kong Fishball and Singapore Fishball have their own article? The Cheung Chau Fishball is just a Hong Kong fishball enlarged as a tourist attraction to the island UKWikiGuy (talk) 14:30, 12 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Well, it doesn't really matter whether it's "just a Hong Kong fishball enlarged as a tourist attraction to the island". What matters is that it's been written about enough to be independently notable, and that one does seem to be, based on the availability of sources.
It also doesn't matter that Hong Kong Fishball and Singapore Fishball don't currently have articles. Maybe they should have articles! Or maybe they're not notable enough. If you think they're notable enough, write the articles! But this one seemed notable enough to me on an assessment of the sources. Valereee (talk) 15:14, 12 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm not willing to die on a hill for this but I do not believe a couple of listicles mentioning a snack stand are good source of notability. My home Hong Kong is a very hype driven place and these fishballs were popular for a few years then people moved on to the next thing. Cheung Chau is more famous for the Mango Mochi and there is no Cheung Chau Mango Mochi article on Wikipedia, nor should there be since it's not encyclopaedic. UKWikiGuy (talk) 15:49, 12 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
I do not believe a couple of listicles mentioning a snack stand are good source of notability. And that does matter. You're in a good situation to research. If you research in good faith, preferably including in Chinese and Cantonese, and you can't find adequate sourcing, go ahead and merge. Valereee (talk) 17:23, 12 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think we must be miscommunicating. I just told you that I agree, listicles aren't enough, and said that if you, as someone in HK (whom I assume can search better than I can) can't find sources you believe are adequate to support a claim to notability, I also agree you should go ahead and merge. How is that ownership behavior? Or assuming bad faith? Valereee (talk) 17:57, 12 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
