Development and writing

[edit]

Romero told VentureBeat that one of the most difficult parts of editing the book was determining the importance of each story to include, saying that 30,000 words were cut out of the book.[1]

Reception

[edit]

Gene Park for The Washington Post called the book "a refreshing demonstration of the truth that paradigm-shifting creative minds don’t have to be tortured, selfish or problematic."[2]

It was included in Polygon's list of the best video game books of 2023.[3]

Adaptations

[edit]

In June 2024, Deadline reported that two adaptations for Doomguy were in the works: a documentary directed by Rob McCallum and a drama series by Golden Possum Productions.[4]
