"Largest military engagement west of the Mississippi River?"

[edit]

The lead section of this article contains a statement to the effect that this battle was "the largest military engagement west of the Mississippi River." Considering the strength figures given for the Battle of Westport (widely considered to be the decisive battle in Price's Missouri Campaign), and comparing them to those given for this engagement, I can't see it. - Ecjmartin (talk) 01:27, 25 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
