Notability

[edit]

The notability of John Stuart Yeates rests on three factors (a) his MBE (b) the fact that he was founding heading agricultural botany at Massey University (c) his plant breeding and the international recognition of the same. Stuartyeates (talk) 05:06, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

conflict of interest

[edit]

As User:Themfromspace correctly points out, I do have a conflict of interest, in that I'm writing about a family member (my late grandfather). I'm not trying to hide this. I still believe in the notability of the subject.Stuartyeates (talk) 05:56, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

One objective criteria for Wikipedia:Notability_(academics) (and I've got a conflict of interest, so I can't use the subjective ones) is "6 The person has held a major highest-level elected or appointed academic post at an academic institution or major academic society." As said in the article "He was the founding head of Agricultural Botany at Massey" Head of department was one of only a handful of departments at the time and was the highest-level elected or appointed academic post at the institution.Stuartyeates (talk) 09:38, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
