Operation Silver Buckle

[edit]

Created by Georgejdorner (talk). Self-nominated at 00:08, 10 January 2016 (UTC).

  • There are now three incoming links to the article. The "orphan" tag is null and void.Georgejdorner (talk) 17:05, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
  • Earwig Copyvio Detector score = 4.8%
  • This article is new enough and long enough. The hook is cited inline and the article is neutral. I was unable to check for close paraphrasing because the sources are all offline. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 07:33, 1 February 2016 (UTC)
  • I don't find this interesting in its current format. I understand from reading our own article that a "company" is composed of a few hundred soldiers, but would our readers know that? Maybe it could be reworded to reflect the soldier count rather than company. If it is likely to be understood outside of people with military knowledge then please do ignore me. Also, the vagueness of the hook doesn't help in this scenario; a bit of context may help (i.e. who fought who). Jolly Ω Janner 07:43, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
  • Surely this could be merged with Template:Did you know nominations/Operation Desert Rat? Jolly Ω Janner 21:53, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
  • Surely two separate military actions involving different military units comprise two separate battles, though in quick succession. I have added a map to this article, to aid the reader's comprehension of that.Georgejdorner (talk) 19:04, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
  • I don't understand what you are trying to say. The hook is "... that Desert Rat followed Silver Buckle?" Are you suggesting there's something wrong with this hook? You initially proposed it. Or are you saying that we should merge the hooks and your map now shows this. Jolly Ω Janner 22:31, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
  • Silver Buckle was an ongoing operation that ended on 11 February 1971. Desert Rat was next in chronological order, beginning on 16 February 1971. Therefore, Desert Rat followed Silver Buckle. I placed a map in Silver Buckle that showed a differing operational area from that of Desert Rat. I figured that if the written message was not clear enough, an illustration would help make the distinction.Georgejdorner (talk) 23:15, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
  • I think you're misunderstanding me. This is probably my fault as I posted my intentions in detail on the project's discussion page, not here. My intention was to bold the wikilink Silver Buckle in the blurb "... that Desert Rat followed Silver Buckle?". What is your opinion? Jolly Ω Janner 23:38, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
  • My opinion is that the nomination is approved, and that I am moving on to write other articles.Georgejdorner (talk) 16:26, 4 February 2016 (UTC)
  • Doesn't look like a better hook is coming out of this. I think we should just go with the original hook which was accepted by Cwmhiraeth. Jolly Ω Janner 04:51, 18 February 2016 (UTC)
