I'm a journalist and broadcaster, originally from here and now living here and working here.

In between I've lived here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here!

I also went to boarding schools here, here and here, and college here.

My main field of interest, and, I like to think, expertise, is the history of Radio Broadcasting in the UK and Ireland, especially offshore radio.

Other interests include family history, football (soccer), shipping and most forms of music and musical theatre.

  • Feast of Fiddles - Irrepressible melodeonist Hugh Crabtree fronts Feast of Fiddles, a rocking four-piece band (featuring ex-Fairporter Dave Mattacks on drums) backing six of Britain's finest folk fiddlers (Phil Beer, Ian Cutler, Peter Knight, Tom Leary, Chris Leslie & Brian McNeill) in a musical extravaganza of dazzling instrumental virtuosity. The solo and ensemble playing by the stellar line-up ranges from Celtic frenzy to gypsy laments and just about everything in between - a truly spectacular show.
