Featured Picture Candidates

Tower Bridge image

[edit]

Hi, firstly you're not the only one who feels that way, apparently. Secondly, you can revert it back to the previous one if you'd like. There are no hard and fast rules regarding that sort of thing but it is usually good etiquette to let the person know you made the change and bring it to the article talk page if there is a disagreement. A similar situation has occured in the article for Buckingham Palace. In that case, I had replaced the lead image in the article and others had prefered the original. In that case (and it is hard to judge objectively when it is your own work in question, I suppose), I did certainly feel that the original image was quite poor and my image (I tried two of them) were clearly superior, but in the end it is a group decision and the few people who did respond sided with the original photo so it stayed. See the talk page on that article if you'd like to read more! I'm not too concerned which of the two is used as the lead image in the Tower Bridge article. Both of them have strengths and weaknesses and I recognise that. I just prefer the newer one. :) Diliff | (Talk) (Contribs) 18:49, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just a quick message to let you know I've responded on my talkpage. Btw is the "84" in your username referring to a birthdate in 1984? --Fir0002 08:33, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sweet Violet

[edit]

Thank you for your comments on my sweet violet featured picture candidate. I took a new photograph at f/8 (the minimum allowed on my camera) to increase DOF while decreasing fringing. It is posted at PPR. If you have the time, give it a look. I would appreciate just knowing whether you would "support" or "oppose" the picture if it were nominated. An FPC in which you voted has been updated

[edit]

Hi!

The picture in this FPC nom has been added to ruins and Classical Greece. Quite a few users also agree that this greatly enhances the value the picture. If you'd like, please see for yourself. I would ask that you please review the FPC nom in light of its new context and update your vote to address these changes.

Thanks,

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Demob happy, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. I noticed that you have participated in Wikipedia:Featured sound candidates in the past. There are now two candidates and the project appears to be abandoned. If you could look at the candidates and vote it would be appreciated. Zginder (talk) (Contrib) 18:22, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Template:User MGS alumnus

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Template:User MGS alumnus requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Thanks. --MZMcBride (talk) 04:16, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Delist template

[edit]

Hi Pstuart84,

I have updated the FPC Delist template per Wikipedia_talk:Featured_picture_candidates#Proposal_for_delisting_template. If you want to check it out and see if it looks to be right, or suggest anything else, then drop me a note. Cheers, --jjron (talk) 11:36, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • OK, good - shame the latest delist nom (as far as I can tell created after I changed the template) ignored that section and didn't bother to give any links. The software may already allow for auto-generating the links, but hey, if it does, I certainly have no idea how to do it ;-). --jjron (talk) 08:10, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

POTD notification

POTD

Hi Pat,

Just to let you know that the Featured Picture Image:PanoMontBlancHDR edit 1.jpg is due to make an appearance as Picture of the Day on September 3, 2008. If you get a chance, you can check and improve the caption at Template:POTD/2008-09-03. howcheng {chat} 00:11, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Because you've contributed to FPC either recently or in the past, I'm letting you know about the above poll on the basis of which we may develop proposals to change our procedures and criteria. Regards, Papa Lima Whiskey (talk) 09:38, 30 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
