Xavier "Xavi" Quintillà Guasch (born 23 August 1996) is a Spanish footballer who plays for Barcelona B as a defender. He also represented Spain at under-17 level.
Career
[edit]Born in Lleida, Catalonia, Quintillà began his career in the academy of FC Barcelona. He was part of their under-19 team which won the 2013–14 UEFA Youth League,[1] scoring the first goal of the campaign in a 4–1 home win over AFC Ajax.[2] He captained the team in their next Youth League campaign, and on 15 July 2015, signed a three-year contract with the B-team.[3]
He was first included in a senior squad for the B-team's Segunda División 2–1 defeat at Xerez CD on 8 June 2013, and also had call-ups in the following two seasons, but did not make his debut until 22 August 2015, when he started in a third-tier match at UE Cornellà, losing by the same score.[4]
Style of play
[edit]British broadcaster Talksport described Quintillà in February 2014 as a natural left-back despite often being cast in the centre of defence, with good passing and long-range shooting abilities.[5]
