Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Hybrid (biology) into Hybridity. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 14:02, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Quick note on counties

[edit]

Hey there! Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia. However, I do have a concern about your recent edits to county pages. "___ County is a county" seems incredibly redundant, and linking to a generic page about counties on every county page isn't something we usually do, nor does it seem necessary. I would love to hear your thoughts on this, though! Bsoyka (tcg) 02:26, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A large majority of county pages appear to follow a variation of the "___ County is a county" format, only a subset of counties for each state seem to not use that format. I standardized county pages that didn't follow the most common format to follow that format, but did not modify county pages that were using a different format but still included a county link in the opening sentences. For instance, some counties have the link to 'county' in the second sentence rather than the first. For those pages, I did not make any modifications. Onyxqk (talk) 02:33, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, interesting. I stand corrected then, my apologies. When I searched for a couple of counties I didn't see that earlier, but now I see where you're coming from. Still seems really redundant to me, but consensus is consensus! Sorry to bother—happy editing. Bsoyka (tcg) 02:36, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
