witches' butter (usually uncountable, plural witches' butters)

  1. Any of several gelatinous fungi which are generally yellow-orange and resemble globs of butter (or jelly), such as Tremella mesenterica, Naematelia aurantia syn. Tremella aurantia, or Phaeotremella foliacea syn. Tremella foliacea, Nostoc commune, Exidia glandulosa (black witch's butter), Exidia recisa, or Dacrymyces chrysospermus (orange witch's butter).
