Reporting your site name without posting it publicly

Suwat Ch edited this page Apr 30, 2020 · 15 revisions

In many cases, for the Azure Web App team to properly investigate an issue with a Web App or Function App (alternate instructions below), we need to know your site name. If you are fine sharing your site name publicly (e.g. mysite.azurewebsites.net), then you can just do that.

Sharing partial information

However, if you prefer not to share it publicly on the forum or in a Github issue (which we fully understand).

  • Share partial info about your subscription GUID. For instance, if your subscription is 30dd879c-ee2f-11db-8314-0800200c9a66, you can share part of prefix and suffix like 30dd...9a66 as your subcription.
  • Share partial info about your site name (enough to uniquely identify within the subscription). For instance, if your site name is mysecretsite, you can share part of prefix and suffix like mys...ite as your sitename.
  • To ensure the correct site and prove you actually own it, add a text file d:\home\logFiles\temp.txt or alike with content containing link to our discussion to your site.

What about Function Apps

In addition of above, see here for alternate easier instructions that are specific to Function Apps.
