I always tell aspiring writers that there are 4 big things you must do to become a writer:
1. Read a lot of books, especially the kind you would like to write.
2. Write. Write a lot! You'll get better with experience.
3. Learn from others. This can be from a critique partner, faculty at conferences, or by taking classes.
4. Never give up. Some people may not resonate with something you write. But, some people will LOVE what you write. Hang in there.(less)
