Stories From the Garden

Mushrooms In The Wrong Place

It is what it is. I have a mushroom bumper crop this year. How this happens, only God knows. Funny though, after several days of letting these things grow in my grass (I wanted to see how big they would get), today the biggest one had plain disappeared. The tops of the grouping next to it were gone and the thick stems all bent out of shape. So, do I have psychedelic induced turkeys, squirrels or deer running around? I dunno.

Garden Explosion

At least it’s not in my fancy garden box. I promised earlier this year that I would share how my first year with my garden box is going.

I’m afraid that I didn’t have much time to garden this summer. It just might have been the wrong year to start a new project like this. But how can a person know these things?

After pretty much ignoring my garden box, the day came that I had to see if I had anything to harvest.

When I took the top off, lo—how it exploded! Zucchini leaves popped out everywhere. My beans had sort of withered, but I got at least one meal from them! And a couple of cucumbers. The other things I planted just disappeared.

But what I got was downright yummy!

Today I went out to check my garden explosion and look who was lurking in the shadows—very close by? Yep. My on again, off again girlfriend with the big nose for food. I wonder what I will find tomorrow after she’s had her salad?

Autumn in Wild Rose RidgeKyle’s Autumn Blaze

Kyle and Alene

He is focused on a dream

She is done with romance

But the love meddlers see a match

Yes, this is a garden story, too. Sort of. At least, Kyle owns a nursery and Alene owns a florist shop. The two go together, don’t they?

But neither Kyle nor Alene think romance is in their future. But just wait until those meddling mothers point their knitting needles at them and see what happens!

I’ll keep you posted. The story is still in progress. Even I don’t know yet how Kyle and Alene get together. I’ll bet those meddlers have an idea, though.

Release day is set for October 29. Watch for it.
