The one thing that holds this from being a really good, solid 4 is that the MCs are entirely too alike.

The premise is good. The first half of the book I was variously grinning or smirking. Then our two resident geniuses started the business of lurking in doorways, overhearing parts of conversations and taking off in a snit. So right up until the queen uses her advanced pregnancy to terrorize everyone into actually paying attention, they're still convinced the other doesn't actually care about them. I can deal with hurt feelings because someone is being an ass but hurt feelings over a misunderstanding/lack of communication gets a bit old long before asshattery ensues. Fortunately, Sir Asshat felt bad afterwards but he still misunderstood why she was hurt.

And of course they have that much needed conversation while trapped in the dining hall by a scary pregnant lady. 'bout time.

Thoroughly enjoyed this installment of the Lords of the Var. Samantha's character had just the right blend of strong, self determination and vulnerability. Falke is the ideal strong, silent type, and the supporting characters where unique and entertaining.

In a nice twist on the alien-abduction trope, it was the hunky-alien being kidnapped.

I do like this series, which is a nice blend of paranormal (as the Var are shifters who can bond with a single life mate) and science fiction since space travel and interplanetary exchange play a part in almost every plot in the series.

What is tough to enjoy, and lowers my star rating, is that the author chooses a profound misunderstanding, born of a lack of communication to keep the hero and heroine emotionally apart. In the romance world, this works effectively in small bursts but not over as much time as Pillow employs it in the Var series, and I hope she begins to realize that more substantial conflict would actually make her writing even stronger. As it is, her characters are a delight and the world she has created is a rich one I enjoy reading about.

This is a great series for readers of paranormal romance who want to try science fiction romance for the first time.

I honestly didn't like the men on Sam's crew in the beginning, because the came across as immature boys instead of men. They eventually grew on me though.

Sam, and some members of her crew, get wasted and then drugs and kidnaps Falke (in shifter form) without knowing who/what he is. The get the surprise of their lives when the realize what's going on.

Falke is super hot from the moment he wakes up as a man, fully nude and well-hung. I loved the banter between him and Sam and the sexy times, which were the saving grace for this story.

So you get out of this world sexiness with a bit of adventure, plus 2 adults who don't know how to talk to each other about their feelings.

Despite their rather unorthodox meet cute (is kidnapping really a meet cute?), Sam and Falke slowly discover their feelings are worth pursuing. I really enjoyed their journey, and Sam's crew is a lot of fun. Can't go wrong with sexy tiger shifters having outer space adventures!

Another 5 Stars to the Stoic Prince!!! haha

Its amazing how this series made some refreshing new things for me having read tons of shifter books.

I really like how the author make the stories short, sweet, funny and steamy all at the same time.

I can never say anything bad about this series.
This one can be a stand-alone because it has a different setting.

Prince Falke, (not really sure how to pronounce his name lol) is the second eldest Var Prince, commander of the Var Army, the biggest prince (literally in all aspects lol) was accidentally kidnapped by the crew of Samantha while drunk. Sam being on a scavenger hunt needs to capture a wild beast.

Not knowing that what they captured is a shifter and also a prince, Sam was not able to deny the lust and hunger she felt for the var prince. Together they journey through space and reveal each others past. Also don't forget the mouth-watering sex between the two hot creatures.

“Can I say something?” the man in the cell asked. Sam shivered. His voice was deep, smooth as silk, but as hard as the metal wall of her ship. “I mean, if you’re all done staring at my manhood?”

I never would have realized that I will still be surprised by this series. I always get disappointed on some other books specially if the first one gave me high hopes.

Everything was well laid out and this series is definitely very easy to read. The flow of the conversation is good. I'm still admiring how the author makes the male alphas to be sweet and passionate at the same time without losing their authority and pride.

Also, I loved how a strong bond for family is portrayed on this series. :)

Thumbs up!!! I want more!!!

REVIEW

"Captain Sam meet Commander Faulke"

Would you listen to The Bound Prince again? Why?
Oh yes it was fantastic. If you like shifters , a little comedy, a lot of hot romance then this is a fantastic story for you.

Who was your favorite character and why?
I think they all were but I was laughing out loud many times at Ethan who is apart of Sam's crew.

Have you listened to any of Michael Ferraiuolo’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes. This one was fantastic. He did a great job with all the characters.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The Captain gets her man.

Any additional comments?
I was gifted this audible for my honest review.

Captain Sam Dorsey and her crew are on a scavenger hunt. One night they get drunk and deceide to roam around the nearest planet. There they come across a giant tiger. Since they need a wild animal as part of their scavenger hunt they capturee the tiger. The next morning when Sam wakes up in her cabin she has a naked man in a cage, in her room. She is totally confused since she cannot remember him at all.
Prince Falke of Var cannot believe that Sam captured him while he was in the shape of a tiger. He is upset but also attracted to Sam. He lets her know that he wants her. Sam fights the attraction but the prince escapes the cage and seduces her.
Before these two have their hea they have to overcome many obstacles. The love scenes are hot and you can feel the emotions going through Sam and Falke. Both of them have alot of pride and in the end someone has to give a little.

OMG Faulke is so big and yummy! Ms. Pillow I am so in love with these cat shifters….isn’t that what I used to day about the Draig, doesn’t matter I love them both!

Can the big, quiet and tough as nails Prince Faulke be broken down, can a slip of a girl really bring the mighty Faulke down? Or will he be the one to humble himself to her? Will Sam be able to handle Faulke?

Man was it fun to read Faulke’s story, I love him!!!! As usual the passion is really hot, but you better get ready for the mighty Faulke cause he truly is mighty…LOL

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

It started kind of good and goofy-funny, but I didn't like the writing style (childish), plot (simple) or annoying miscommunication between H/h. It did not seem necessary to read previous books to understand the story. In any case I'm not reading any more from this series.

How do drunken fools, a scavenger hunt, a huge misunderstanding, & 2 peolpe who are stubborn as mules connect in the end..........a funny and ironic HEA.
Sam is the Captain of the ship The Bound Virgin but to be fair, she didn't name the ship. Her crew is a band of mishmash sweethearts who you can't help but like. They are also fiercely loyal to Sam. Even when they are extremely upset at her.
The wild multi planet trip through space all started with a night of playing cards, blind drunk. Plus a scavenger hunt with a wild beast on the list. Which has Sam drunkenly turning back to Qurilixen. Unfortunately (at the moment) for Falke he was in his beautiful white tiger form running through the forest at the time. In which a few minutes later, Sam shoots him with 3 tranquilizer darts and 2 of her drunken crew get him on her ship and in the cage in Sam's room.
When Sam wakes the next morning in a foggy daze, she isn't looking at a tiger but the naked man that is Falke and the plot goes from there. It has a sadistic father, many steamy scenes, comical relief, stubbornness that'll drive you nuts & a HEA thanks to the hysterical Qyeen Ulyssa.
I don't know what it is but I always find Michelle M Pillow's Queen's (Draig & Var) to be the funniest. I just love their attitudes & how the Kings know better than to argue with them. Kudos for yet again another fantastic Qurilixen novel set on the Var side of the planet.

A fun and entertaining read of paranormal and sci-fi romance. The storyline is fun and charming with the antics of the Bound Virgin crew as three of them drunkenly head to Quilrixillion to capture a beast for a Scavenger Hunt contest with a huge prize. They tranq dart a fierce white tiger and take him to their spacecraft. Unknowingly they’ve captured a cat-shifter who is a Prince and the Commander of the Var Armies.

The sexual chemistry between Captain Sam and Falke is pretty intense and neither can resist. Just as the story is going along and the characters have connected/bonded, they eavesdrop on portions of conversations between the other and her crew, misunderstanding what is said or not hearing the entire conversation and overreacting to the small portion they heard. The misunderstandings and miscommunication then seem to tear apart their relationship and neither of them think to try talking to find out what’s going on or to express their feelings.

The miscommunication is finally stopped when Falke’s pregnant sister-in-law goes scary on everyone and forces them to confront their feelings for each other in the main dining hall at the palace. The final quarter of the book could have been so much better with less angst and more romance between Falke and Sam. Despite this frustration with the storyline I did enjoy the book and will read more in the series.

I really like this world of Qurilixen and its Dragon and Cat shifters. I do wish I'd read this one before I read the 'Space Lords' series, as this explains how that crew came to be. But no matter the order, the books can stand alone and are still a great read. This book centers on Prince Falke, cat-shifter and commander of the Var armies, and Samantha Dorsey (Captain Sam), a space adventurer. Sam and her crew are participating in a high stakes scavenger hunt with a potential big pay off. They've been collecting items for nearly a year and lack only one thing - a wild beast from a primitive planet. When Sam and a couple of her crew members set off on a drunken quest to find a wild beast, their world collides with that of Prince Falke's. Attraction flares between Sam and Falke in spite of how they met. But theirs is not a smooth ride. Throw in their personal pride and lack of understanding of each other's feelings, along with the fact that Sam is running from her father's plans for her, and Falke is so devoted to his family that Sam fears he wouldn't stay with her in space. The resulting story is humorous, engaging, and steamy with twists you don't see coming. If you like fantasy adventure with steam, be sure to pick this one up!

This is a review of the audio book.

One night when Sam and her crew indulge a bit too much, they find themselves on what they think is a desolate planet in search of a wild beast to catch to finish off their scavenger hunt list but what they catch is something more deadly than a wild beast. Prince Falke decides that he must gain the crews trust to find his way home, but it seems fate has other things in mind before Falke can go home. Will Sam find what she needs with Falke or will the two forever ignore their hearts?

This is an engaging listen. The characters are strong and developed. I enjoyed most of the story but towards the end it started to drag. Miscommunication and denial make up a lot of the story. It soon becomes a bit boring when each time you think things will get resolved but the pain continues and even the supporting characters soon have enough of it. I enjoyed the interaction of the characters the love and friendship is very evident in everything that they do. Narrator Michael Ferraiuolo does a nice job of bringing the emotions out in the characters and quickly pulled me into its world.

2.5 stars, rounding up
My favorite prince and least favorite "princess".
There are no two ways about it, I didn't like Sam. Plain and simple.
First impression was anything but impressive so were the second, third and it just kept getting worse.
With every decision she made, she kept making it worse, make me like her even less.
Her crew was just as bad, though I've to say I warmed to them somewhat towards the end. Sadly the same can't be said for her.
I thought her stupid, selfish, craven and her occasional bouts of playing the martyr didn't change that. Not once did she actually talk to Falke, ask him anything, but rather assumed things and simply made decisions for him. And again with the prolonged and unnecessary misunderstandings. Makes for very one dimensional conflict.
It's all made worse by the fact that I was so looking forward to Falke's story. I wanted someone for him who saw him, who sees him, who was able to see beneath the stoic exterior. Sam never did. I wanted better for him.
Apart from that it was a good story and I liked the change of setting, both in terms of location as well as a break from ongoing conflicts "at home".

"This adventure might actually turn out to be fun."

Falke is wondering if he still knows his place in his family -- his lifelong purpose is no longer needed thanks to the recent signing of a peace treaty.

Sam is a pirate captain enjoying her space adventures, their even more fun when alcohol is involved.

When their lives collide they discover different ways of leading can each earn respect and get the job done, but it just might be possible there's a reason beyond skills that Sam's crew is fiercely loyal. The more time they are together the more Falke sees similarities and differences in their pasts, but will they find common ground and figure out how to understand one another, or is this a one and done adventure?

I loved the family dynamics for each of these characters, for Sam the chosen family vs. her biological family deepened the story. I've been reading the Quirilixen books out of order, and from later books had some idea of highlights from this story, but not in a way that it felt spoiled... The Bound Prince stands solidly on its own, with some delightful laugh out loud moments.

This delightful enjoyable story is about Prince Falke and Sam. I laughed, I swooned and was very engaged in this story. Sam and her crew are drinking and having a good time when on a monitor they spot a large beast that's on the list of a Scavenger Hunt they're doing. On a drunken trip to the planet Qurilixen, Sam, Evan and Lucien frolic about when a huge white tiger appears and charges Sam. Meanwhile Prince Falke is out running in his tiger form when he smells trespassers on the Var lands and he spies Sam and two naked men. Charging at Sam and landing on her, he starts to bite her when her scent entices him and he changes his mind. Sam then uses the tranquilizer dart gun and they cart the drugged cat to a cage in Sam's room. Sam wakes up woozy from the night before and finds a naked man in a cage in her room whom she finds attractive. Prince Falke demands to know why they kidnapped him. What occurs between Sam and Falke and the motley crew of the Bonded Virgin is a enjoyable story that I volunteer to read and review via Booksprout.

So glad I discovered this author - totally worth the time & it was an adventure

POV: dual (mostly)
HUMOR: yes
F BOMBS: no
CLIFFHANGER / STANDALONE: S
NEW AUTHOR FOR ME: yes
POSSIBLE TRIGGERS: held captive, manipulation, poisoning

CHARACTERS: Samantha Dorsey (patient, caring, fun-loving, captain of her spaceship with the best vanity gadgets a girl could want) and Prince Falke (gorgeous warrior, a bit possessive, trained to be impassive, and a noticeably large "stature")

PROS:
1. Excellent world- & character-building; this author can definitely write a story.
2. Action, emotional, funny, likable characters, binding of mates, primal attraction, unpredictable surprises
3. Steamy, hot, toe-curling, sexy times

CONS:
1. None.

NOTEWORTHY:
1. Props for the nod to Star Wars & Aliens

Captain Sam Dorsey rules a rowdy crew with a firm hand!! Well, not exactly! They all get drunk one night and decide to pop down to the primitive planet of Qurilixen to capture a wild beast, the last item on their list for the scavenger hunt they are on. Imagine Sams surprise when she wakes up with a full blown hangover and a naked man in a cage in the middle of her bedroom. Once they sober up and find out they abducted a Var Prince they are totally screwed. They don’t have enough fuel to return him, thanks to one of her crew, and they need the money from the scavenger hunt for fuel. Only they are short one wild beast.

I laughed at the crazy stuff her unruly crew pulls, but you can tell they all love each other. So where does one angry prince come in, especially when Sam is pretty sure he is her mate? Don’t miss this one!

5 fun stars for this audio version and the fabulous narrator! An entertaining, well written erotic romance set in the Var shape-shifting world. An engrossing back-story that's only enhanced by the different accents Michael Ferraiuolo manages to give each character. He does a wonderful woman's voice as well. Our shape-shifting hero Prince Falke (whilst in tiger form), manages to get himself captured by the drunk half human female captain of a spaceship. Funny scenes involving the crew are sprinkled throughout. I read/listened to these stories slightly out of series order, but if you haven't read these books, I recommend you start with book one, so the background of this world is easy to understand. It can be read as a stand alone. If reading, I probably would have given this well written book 4 stars.

I have been eagerly awaiting Prince Falke's love story. As the commander of the Var armies and not showing any emotions at all I had a hard time figuring out how Prince Falke's love story would unfold. Surprisingly he was kidnapped by a beautiful woman and her crew, while that was bad enough, this all happened when they were drunk. Falke and Sam felt an immediate connection and attraction to each other. While they had him on their spaceship Sam got to know Falke a little better and he got to know her better too. The story was funny and steamy and I did not want to stop reading it until I was all the way done. We get to meet Prince Jarek and I definitely can't wait to read his story next. I love this whole series and am excited to move on to the next book about Jarek.

I really enjoyed the book till the pregnancy portion. I have some real issues with how it worked in this book. At many points differ men in the book said that Sam would have the baby no matter what ect and that really rubbed me the wrong way. As if she had no choice at all??? I don’t know for me I didn’t even wanna finish it I was so annoyed at how the men were acting by basically threatening that she had to have the child not matter what. Even to the point when her life are knew they had to be together how ever often and he was willing to force it???? Like I’m sorry but what the fuck. So he’s willing to potentially rape her so that she keeps the baby??? If this is how the next book is I’m done with the series.

This is a Lords of the Var Series. Prince Falke is a cat shifter who accidentally gets caught in his cat form by a female captain who then takes him away from his planet. He can’t call home, he can’t communicate with his family so he must find his own way home.

Samantha is the female captain who grabs him thinking he is a primitive beast that she needs to win a scavenger hunt. She does t know until she sleeps off her alcohol and wakes up with a hangover and a very mad male. Uhoh, it’s more than she bargained for. And on top of that she’s falling hard. I really enjoyed this because normally it’s the other way around. It’s the female getting kidnapped. You rarely see where the mail is the one that is grabbed. Maybe that’s why I really enjoyed this book

Prince Falke's Adventure . . .

Captain Samantha Dorsey and her crew are engaging in an intergalactic scavenger hunt to win prize money. Having been drinking heavily and ready for mischief, they tackle the last item listed to retrieve, which is a “primitive wild beast”.

Prince Falke, a big cat shifter, is in charge of the royal armies. But right now, he is stretching his muscles with a run on the planet below when he is captured by the female space captain, much to his embarrassment. She sees, the next day, that she caught much more than she had expected when the warrior prince expresses his irritation! It’s lucky for him that he was raised to not believe in love, so there’s no risk of that pesky emotion, right?

This was a cute story. Samantha Dorsey and her crew are on a space scavenger hunt! They only need one last thing! A wild dangerous animal! So after a night of drinking they land on a planet and find a white tiger! Sam uses a dart gun to subdue him, and puts him in her cabin within a cage. Prince Falke wakes up in a cage on a ship. He is the Commander of the Var armies and is a bit embarrassed that he was captured by a group of drunks. He is a shapeshifter!Sam and Falke have an instant connection! But overhearing conversations both come to the wrong conclusion!
I find that it just goes on too long. It takes a highly emotional pregnant woman, in need of chocolate to get them to talk. Lol.
Narration was okay. Female voices were not great but were just okay.
